TE Connectivity’s Quality and Reliability Engineering Teams analyze the ability of product and production systems to comply with customer and contractual requirements through established reliability factors. They design, recommend revisions and install quality control systems, develop and document analytical methods for establishing reliability of products and their components and conduct analysis on relative reliability with regards to cost, structure, weight, maintainability, facility of production, and availability of materials and equipment. Out teams develop, implement and monitor company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and recommend corrective actions if necessary. They are responsible for policies and practices to comply with applicable government regulations and industry requirements related to product environmental compliance, the implementation and management of technical and testing standards and specifications, quality control and reliability programs governing materials, product and processes, resulting in the optimization of material and labor, as well as failure analysis, root cause, corrective action and customer communication.

Job Responsibilities

Active participation in process analysis. APQP, New product / process validation, design reviews and Safe Launch within the supply base
Assist launch engineers in preparing process flow diagrams, DFMEA, PFMEA, corrective/preventative actions and process troubleshooting and improvements within the supply base
Coordinate, review, and submit PPAP documents to the customer. Negotiate approval status as necessary
Prepare PSW and Control Plans and conduct Process Capability and GR&R studies as part of the PPAP submissions
Complete supplier run at rate studies and process sign off audits for high risk components in the supply base
Prepare documentation for quality inspection plans as needed; uploading the plans to SAP for direct-ship components
Support Outside Vendor Management with Quality support for supplier-to-supplier tool moves. Provide drawings and quality inspection plans to the receiving supplier and assist with check-off to ensure all gages, etc have been provided
Coordinate customer concern resolutions for pre-production product complaints
Establish and maintain communication between customer and trouble owner
Perform internal and external quality system audits as required
Assist in developing and executing proactive and reactive business processes to increase performance and capabilities of the supplier to meet TE’s short- and long-term supply needs
Promote ongoing mutually beneficial improvements with the suppliers
Use core tools to audit and optimize legacy tools and work centers at suppliers toward Star Level 5 capable performance
Develop supplier and internal Supplier Quality Department team members’ capabilities in 8D skills using a comprehensive 8D scoring and coaching tool
Utilize technical problem-solving tools to diagnose and fix escalated, particularly difficult technical challenges in the supply base in effort to protect TE costs of poor quality and delivery internally and to our customers

What your background should look like:

BS Degree in Engineering required with 5+ years of relevant experience
Master’s Degree preferred
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or advanced knowledge and use of convergent technical problem-solving tools preferred
America Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer preferred
Experience with all tools of IATF16949; especially VDA6.3, APQP, PPAP, Root Cause Analysis
IATF16949 lead auditor certification required to lead supply base audits and support internal audit cadence within TEC
Working knowledge of SPC, capability analysis, gage R&R, and statistical techniques
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with project management capabilities
Must be able to lead and motivate engineering resources within a matrix organization
Candidate must be self-directed and possess managerial courage and business acumen
Candidate must be well versed in working in technical and commercial environments and work fluidly to lead communications with suppliers and customers up to the OEM level
Must be willing to travel up to 50% within the US and Mexico
Experience in an automotive regulated environment (Tier 1 and OEM)
Experience with Minitab or other statistical software strongly desirable
Must be able to interpret blueprints of plastic parts, assemblies, and systems
Experience in molding of clear plastic parts in appearance critical lighting applications preferred
Some molding RGJ level training preferred
Able to work effectively in a team environment
Proficiency working with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SAP
