Job Description

The Production Supervisor I is responsible for analyzing manufacturing systems and data, as well as assisting in directing and coordinating activities to ensure the daily execution of area Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) within the specified performance criteria.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, focus, direction, and training to Team Leaders and manufacturing Associates.
  • Develop, communicate, and train Associates on manufacturing work in process inventory procedures.
  • Act as a manufacturing inventory expert and participate in root cause inventory analysis and correction as needed.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and good housekeeping are maintained while promoting employee safety participation in the VBS program at all levels. Includes incident investigation, reporting, and closure.
  • Plan and assign work utilizing labor, equipment, materials, schedule, and layout to produce product at minimum cost consistent with acceptable quality standards.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies, rules, and regulations in a consistent manner. Act as a liaison between management and the work force to keep plant management informed and maintain the highest possible level of positive employer-associate relations.
  • Recommend and initiate personnel actions such as recognitions, selections, resourcing additions, promotions, transfers, training, terminations, pay increases, counseling, and disciplinary measures.
  • Maintain daily, time, and production records for accuracy.
  • Assess Associate performance, perform coaching, and conduct performance reviews as required to maximize Associate potential.
  • Participate in projects to promote continuous improvement.
  • Fill in as acting Production/Warehouse Manager for extended periods as required, including but not limited to, extended leave and weekend rotation.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required along with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment or an Associate’s degree and 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution environment
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Possess knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as SAP inventory software.
  • Must be business oriented and possess interactive skills to support the manufacturing team and function as a business partner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to communicate with all levels of plant staff.
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, capable of managing a number of tasks and resources on projects within deadlines.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.

While performing the duties of this Job, the associate is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
