As the Tech Program Intern III, you will help implement information security processes to protect the company against the breach of protected information and unauthorized intrusion into our network and systems. You will focus on Cyber Awareness, Cyber Compliance, and Cyber Risk management with additional focus on cyber threat hunting, vulnerability discovery, pen testing, offensive security and threat intelligence monitoring.On our team, you'll have the support to excel at work and the resources to build a career you can be proud of.Pay, benefits and more.We are eager to attract the best, so we offer competitive compensation. This 10 to 12-week internship program will take place in one of multiple locations during the summer of 2023.What you'll do on a typical day:- Learn how various cybersecurity teams work, from security engineering to cyber intelligence and everything in between
- Gain hands-on experience with network, edge and endpoint protection tools; learn how these events are correlated into a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) program, and how we leverage vulnerability data and cyber intelligence to find and remediate potential issues
- Learn all aspects of a security organization while collaborating with security engineers, the Security Operation Center (SOC) analysts, incident responders, forensics analysts, the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and more
- Participate in the day-to-day health monitoring and security engineering operations as they troubleshoot XPO's security tool stack
- Participate in reporting metrics, writing technical documentation and learning to utilize the cutting-edge enterprise level security tools to hunt threats
- Learn and participate in the core functionality of each team that you work with
- Escalate alerts, issues and incidents to the appropriate teams
- Become familiar with Next Generation Protection (firewalls, endpoint), how to use a SIEM, writing and following security processes, vulnerability scanning tools and cyber intelligence tools
- Background or education in related field
- 2 or more years of relevant coursework
- Class status as a junior (3rd year) or greater
- 2 years of relevant coursework
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with administrative processes
- Understanding of information security, IT systems and networking concepts
- Strong data analysis skills, including querying and reporting
- Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment; consult with team members and management as needed
- Ability to be open-minded and receptive to feedback in an intellectually rigorous environment
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve problems
- Good organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Great verbal and written communication skills
