Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a VP of Engineering to join our team, based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The core function of this role will be leading our engineering team, developing and implementing strategies, and driving innovation in software solutions. This role offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Overseeing the development and implementation of engineering strategies that align with our overall goals and vision Directing a team of software engineers, architects, and technical leads, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product, UX/UI, and Operations, to drive product innovation Managing the architecture and design of large-scale, distributed systems built on Java and AWS cloud infrastructure Advocating for the adoption of best practices in software development, ensuring adherence to Agile methodologies and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines Exploring new technologies, tools, and techniques to drive innovation in software engineering Ensuring high-quality code delivery through rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and performance optimization Leading the migration, optimization, and scaling of applications within AWS environments, ensuring cloud solutions are cost-effective, reliable, and secure Advancing a DevOps culture by advocating for automation, continuous deployment, and infrastructure-as-code practices Establishing monitoring, alerting, and incident response protocols to maintain high availability and system performance in production environments Ensuring that engineering projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards Balancing technical debt management with the need for innovation, ensuring sustainable software development practices. Requirements Proven experience in a similar role, preferably as VP of Engineering or similar senior position in an IT company. Expertise in Agile Scrum methodologies to manage projects and streamline processes. Proficiency in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CICD) practices to ensure software updates on a regular basis while maintaining high quality standards. Demonstrable experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including setup, operations, and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of Azure DevOps for planning, tracking, and discussing work across the entire development team. Familiarity with Azure DevOps Server for self-hosted environments to customize and manage builds, testing, and other processes. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with other teams and stakeholders. A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. A strategic thinker with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
