Job Description

The Material Flow Engineer is a key position within Moen that will focus on improving Distribution and Transportation operation by analyzing and planning process improvements within work flow, space requirements and material handling equipment. The position will reside in Kinston, NC and travel to other sites as required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Distribution, Transportation, and Global Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams to identify and implement process, material flow or cost savings initiatives as well as oversee the design, approval and implementation of capital investments to Distribution and Transportation operations.
  • Recommend and implement policies, practices and methods for improving safety, operational efficiency, storage and waste reduction.
  • Provide lean training (i.e. 5S, Kaizen, standardized work, error-proofing, visual signals, TPM,etc.) and facilitateimprovement events as needed.
  • Analyze and establish work measurement programs to develop standards for work force utilization and overall facility operation.
  • Develop future state facility layouts in CAD, material flow and operational plans.
  • Generate, modify and trouble-shoot conveyor, carousel, labeler or other material handling equipment. Support and provide technical knowledge and skills to the appropriate team(s).
  • Serve as the process owner for ensuring accuracy oftime studies, value stream maps and develop strategies for task and/or process changes as needed to drive improvements to the business.
  • Interface with Distribution, Component Warehousing, Manufacturing and other internal or external functions as required developing plans that facilitate material flow improvements.
  • Document, provide, and maintain standard work instructions for material associates.
  • Assist in developing management systems for cost analysis, financial planning and job evaluations as required.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Management or a related discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience is required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project; prior SAP experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand and generate CAD drawings as well as navigate and utilize plant floor layouts.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts as they relate to the management of inventories and release schedules.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
