The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer solves complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers to support Medicaid HEDIS reporting and quality initiatives. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer position requires advanced technical skills in data management, analysis, and visualization, as well as a deep understanding of HEDIS measures, NCQA and Medicaid programs.

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer

develops, implements, and maintains robust data extraction, transformation and loading process to support HEDIS reporting requirements.

Create and manage complex SQL queries and scripts to extract and manipulate data from various sources.

Integrate data from multiple sources including claims, clinical and provider data, ensuring data integrity and consistency.

Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to present HEDIS metrics and trends.

Provide actionable insights on quality improvement initiatives.

Lead and mentor junior BI engineers and analysts, providing guidance on best practices and technical solutions.

Collaborate with cross functional teams, including IT, Quality and Market teams to align on data initiatives.

Use your skills to make an impactRequired Qualifications:

Advanced experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations

Experience analyzing data to solve a wide variety of business problems and create data visualizations that drive strategic direction

Proficiency in understanding Healthcare related data

Proficiency in HEDIS measures, Medicaid programs and healthcare quality improvement

Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Power BI

Proficiency in verbal and written communication to senior and executive leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years of technical experience in data analysis OR Master's degree and 3 or more years of experience with a focus on healthcare and HEDIS reporting

Proven experience with SQL, ETL processes, and data warehousing

Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other programming languages

Proficiency in database management systems (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL)

Expertise in data mining, forecasting, simulation, and/or predictive modeling

Proven experience with tools such as Microsoft Power BI for creating data visualizations

Experience creating advanced visualization and analytical solutions for various healthcare sectors

Demonstrated leadership and project management skills

Work at Home CriteriaTo ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:

At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.

Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.

Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense. Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
