Job Description

Position Summary:

The materials department in Kinston is responsible for material planning, schedule processing, work schedule calendar creation, vendor contact, vendor quality, and supervision of receiving and inventory control in the global warehouse only for both the Kinston MSL operation (WH12) and the Kinston DA component operation (WH 19).

Manage the day to day operations of the Material Planning team in Kinston. Responsible for the supervision of planning and purchasing of material to support production schedules while meeting financial goals. This position supports WH12 cabinet production and WH19 DA component production and lamination. Also retain planning responsibilities for certain commodities and suppliers.

Accountabilities:

  • Supervise the activities and personnel engaged in planning, issuing purchase orders, processing daily production schedules for the plant, and creating production schedules for the DA operation.
  • In conjunction with production associates, solve system, quality and process problems affecting the daily operations of receiving, storing, and parts pulling, including preprimed and prefinished doors and frames.
  • Responsible for specific material planning for suppliers assigned by materials manager.
  • In the absence of an on site Vendor Quality Engineer, assist in resolving vendor quality issues.
  • Work with production management to improve IRA.
  • Complies with and enforces company safety programs and policies.
  • Achieve departmental, plant, and corporate goals for safety, quality and productivity.
  • Promote clean, safe and efficient work areas utilizing 5S. Initiate corrective action as necessary.
  • Lead production employees in continuous improvement activities.
  • Consistently administer company policies and practices regarding attendance, performance, etc.
  • Participate in activities such as training and safety programs in order to enhance the overall effectiveness of the work area(s) involved.
  • Initiate and complete value added projects.
  • Backup for OTM duties as necessary.
  • Follow up on expedited inbound shipments, inbound and outbound ICTs, NIS, and scrap.
  • Complete daily and weekly Kronos entries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Materials Manager

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 - 6 years supervisory experience preferred in manufacturing or warehouse operations.
  • Experience with Lean tools preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, delegation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Friedman experience preferred.
  • Must be adaptable to change and have the ability/desire to make a difference.
  • Solid arithmetic skills and measurements are essential.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, PM equipment in assigned area.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor degree or AS degree in a technical or business related field is preferred
