Application Architect (Cleveland / Remote)

The Application Architect develops, documents, and communicates architecture designs and POCs to directly support the development efforts of our development teams. This role will support and assist the organization to implement technology solutions that solve business problems effectively and efficiently by architecting application-level solutions, software, environment, and/or database implementations. Candidates for this role should bring a depth of understanding in cloud design and implementation, with the ability to identify, evaluate, and recommend appropriate cloud native resources and/or third-party vendor solutions to meet business needs.

Essential Accountabilities
  • Prepare technical design documents, estimates, and blueprints for applications.
  • Work closely with other architects and development teams throughout development, integration, testing, and releases.
  • Researches, identifies, and communicates options, impacts, and implementation plans of architecture designs, services, and cloud native technologies
  • Implements and executes processes for the definition, maintenance, and conformance management of the Application Architecture
  • Builds knowledge of the company's existing architecture, technology, security, and solutions portfolio and continually assesses our application's alignment with industry standards and the enterprise portfolio
  • Partners with Product leadership, business stakeholders, vendors, and executives to identify solutions to support tactical and strategic objectives
  • Assesses and documents business, enterprise, and technical architectures and capabilities to ensure they are aligned with organizational and strategic objectives
  • Researches, develops, documents, and recommends plans for investing in sound application architecture principles and emerging technologies which will reduce cost, increase security, remove redundancies, and/or improve systems flexibility
  • Ensure that the quality attributes of the application satisfy all non-functional requirements through sound architectural direction.
  • Facilitate in application design reviews and walkthroughs.
  • Conduct customer discovery and requirements elicitation sessions from a technical standpoint and interacts with the clients/stakeholders to understand the requirements.
  • Serve as a technology consultant to internal business areas and external customers to select the best technology solutions to meet business needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Adheres to the Banks attendance policies through regular and prompt attendance.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years of related work experience; including 2+ years as an application architect

Required Skills:
  • Amazon Cloud (AWS) - minimum 1 year experience required
  • API development and best practices
  • Strong understanding of Java/J2EE concepts, object-oriented design, and development
  • Strong understanding of Oracle and/or Postgres databases
  • Skilled with diagramming tools and documentation

Additional Desired Skills:
  • AWS Cloud Architecture certifications
  • AWS Services (Lambda, ECS, Fargate, EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, S3, MQ, SQS)
  • Familiarity with serverless microservices-based application architecture
  • Experience with cloud-based security and security tools
  • Familiarity with Government compliance and controls (NIST/FISMA/FedRAMP)
