The physician assistant functions in collaboration with a physician according to a supervisory agreement. The APRN functions in collaboration with a physician according to a standard care arrangement and specialty certification. APRN and PA providers will provide primary and/or specialty care in a variety of healthcare settings.Job Responsibilities:Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems.

Assess health status by obtaining relevant health and medical history.

Performs a physical exam based upon the age and patient history as per supervisory agreement.

Identifies significant health and medical risk factors.

Orders, interprets and evaluates laboratory test and other diagnostic studies to assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs. Develops a diagnosis by analyzing and synthesizing collected data.

In collaboration with the physician, develops a treatment plan along with the patient and significant others.

Performs diagnostic or therapeutic interventions consistent with certification, law and CCAG privileges.

May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by license per Ohio Medical Board or Nursing board and CCAG policy.

Develops patient education plan.

May round with medical team, collaborates with nursing, medical and other healthcare team members regularly to ensure quality patient care.

May perform history and physical, document progress notes, and prepare discharge summaries as required.

Other duties as assigned.

Follows Hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.

Education:PA: Graduate of an A.R.C.-approved Physician Assistant Program. Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or applicable state licensure through the State Medical Board for certificate to practice.

APRN: Graduate of an accredited APRN program. Master's degree in Nursing and/or applicable state license through the Ohio Board of Nursing for certificate to practice.

Certifications:PA: Current certification as a Physician Assistant through the NCCPA. Incumbent must obtain applicable State licensure before employment, license to prescribe or be eligible. Must have approved Physician Supervision Agreement (listed on State Medical Board website) and/or signed addendum to Physician Supervision Agreement. Must be privileged by CCAG's Credentialing Board. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required based upon work setting.

APRN: Licensed as RN in applicable state, national certification as nurse practitioner (APRN) by nationally accredited organization, current certificate of authority/APRN license by applicable state Board of Nursing. BLS Healthcare Provider required; ACLS, PALS and additional certifications may be required based upon work setting.

Complexity of Work:Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.

Excellent analytical and decision making skills are required. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated competency and the ability to perform advanced assessment and diagnosis. Demonstrated ability to utilize the electronic medical record. Outpatient Little or No special privileging Practice may have hospital rounds Limited call possible May work some evenings and occasional Saturdays

Physical Requirements:Typical physical demands include the ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.

Manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to perform physical examinations.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range.

Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.

May require exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
