Position SummaryResponsible to develop and run automated tests to validate both functional and non-functional performance of software systems. Partner with Product Owners and Developers to ensure code changes meet the agreed upon acceptance criteria. Communicate test results and anomalies to their team and others.

Essential Accountabilities
  • Write automated tests for APIs, user interfaces, batch processes, ETL processes, and serverless components to ensure overall quality of the product and that the system meets defined acceptance criteria.
  • Design tests scenarios through the review of user stories, requirements, and technical specifications
  • Partner with other team members to include automated tests in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Sets up test cases and prepare test data for testing particular scenarios.
  • Participate in peer reviews of automation code and test cases.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis for problems encountered during testing and provide recommendations on resolution.
  • Monitor and review results of automated tests and makes results visible to other members of the team.
  • Contribute to automated test methods, procedures, and standards, serving as a subject matter expert on automation methodologies.
  • May conduct manual testing.
  • Participate in team daily stand ups and reports on testing progress, offers ideas to improve the testing process and communicates testing blockers.
  • Partner closely with all members of the development team to ensure quality is ingrained in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Senior Automation Test Engineer
  • Senior: Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of related work experience
  • Associate's degree or software testing certificate with 7+ years of related work experience
Automation Test Engineer
  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of related work experience or
  • Associate's degree and/or Software Testing Certificate and 5+ years of related work experience

Experience
  • Experience working within a highly collaborative agile environment utilizing Scrum or Kanban methodologies
  • Experience with Agile Testing Methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, Test Driven Development, and Behavior Driven Development
  • E xperience with Quality Assurance Engineering methodologies and practices
  • E xperience with test case management and automated deploy practices such as CI/CD

Knowledge and Skills Area
  • Understands how to test across a full software stack
  • General knowledge of databases is a plus
  • Data analysis and or data testing experience is a plus
  • General understanding of Software development
  • Cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure
  • API and Microservice architecture
  • Object oriented design patterns
  • Knowledge of a Programming language is a plus
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Office365
  • CI/CD practices
  • Ability to perform independent research
  • Creating test cases that meet functional and non-functional requirements
  • Navigating through challenges with defect remediation and demonstrate effective escalation of high severity defects.
  • Strategic thinking/planning
  • Written and verbal communication as well as active listening skills
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to understand software from the customer's perspective

Physical Demands and General Working Conditions

Employees typically sit most of the day, work with a computer and may answer/respond to phone calls. Physical movement consists of walking for meetings, breaks, etc. Ability to lift items weighing approximately 20 pounds on a limited basis is required. Employees may be required to travel by car/air.
