In this role you will have the unique opportunity to identify, prevent, detect, and remediate such non-compliance by ensuring that reported concerns are promptly, thoroughly, and appropriately managed by individual investigators. This includes (but is not limited to) responding to reports of impermissible uses and disclosures of patient information as well as allegations of discrimination, harassment, and other violations in the workplace.Cleveland Clinic's Compliance Officer reports directly to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. This reporting structure reflects the full support of senior management for the important work being performed by the Compliance office. It allows for escalation of the Board when appropriate to ensure that non-compliance is appropriately addressed.The ideal future caregiver is someone who:

Is proficient in researching, understanding, and applying applicable laws and regulations to health care, especially HIPAA Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Rules.

Has the ability to build good working relationships with people at all levels of the organization and communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.

Can maintain objectivity and strict confidentiality in the performance of their job duties.

Can manage and prioritize multiple investigations concurrently and meet established deadlines with little prompting.

Works well with others and can build trust within a team.

Responds to inquiries and conducts investigations surrounding HIPAA/privacy regulations.

Works alongside cybersecurity to resolve cyber incidents related to breaches of privacy

Assists the Director with identifying and analyzing areas of risk.

Distributes material from resources with relevant compliance-related information.

Other duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in related field.

Legal degree or working towards a legal degree preferred

Knowledge of Emergency Medicine Laws and HIPAA regulations

Complexity of Work:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

3 years of recent experience with health care compliance (HIPAA) required.

Some paralegal or litigation experience preferred.

Strong understanding of cybersecurity/IT in relation to HIPAA/privacy highly preferred.

Offset: High School Diploma / GED or equivalent and 7 years of relative experience.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay RangeMinimum hourly: $33.46Maximum hourly: $51.03The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires.
