The Data Engineer builds and operationalizes the data necessary for the digital product team initiatives, following industry standard best-practices, and incorporating modern data management tools. The Data Engineer builds, manages and optimizes data pipelines, moving these data pipelines effectively into production for key data and analytics consumers like product owners, business/data analysts, digital platform owners, or any persona that needs curated data for its associated use cases across the digital product organization.

Essential Job Functions
  • Functions as key interface to develop and deliver datasets for integration and analytics on behalf of the digital product team
  • Works creatively and collaboratively with development partners, solution owners, and key business stakeholders to understand, develop, and operationalize data assets which support desired business outcomes
  • Collaborates with data analysts and other data consumers and application developers to optimize models and algorithms for data quality, security, and governance, with an emphasis on production implementations that lead to productivity gains
  • Solicits, understands, and ensures compliance with data governance and data security requirements while creating and improving integrated and reusable data pipelines, to enable faster data access and improved time-to-solution for data and analytics initiatives.
  • Drives automation through use of innovative and modern tools, techniques, and architectures to automate the most-common, repeatable, and tedious data preparation and integration tasks partially or completely
  • Educates and trains on new data initiatives and how to address them
  • Applies domain expertise in addressing new requirements, and proposes appropriate and innovative means of ingesting, preparation, integration, and operationalization to meet requirements
  • Contributes to data and analytics evangelism, promoting capabilities and expertise to stakeholder teams, and blending growth as a data guru, fixer, and data munger
  • Supports engineering communities of practice (CoP) to expand influence and quality across the digital organization.

Licensing/Certification

Azure Data Engineer Associate (preferred)

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Mathematics, Data Management, Computer Science, or other related degree (required)

Master's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Information Systems.

Work Experience

3 years' experience designing, building, deploying, and troubleshooting data extract and load jobs using Azure data factory (required)

3 years' experience Microsoft SQL Server / managed SQL Instance implementation in Azure, data modeling and design (required)

3 years' experience building DB objects, authoring, and troubleshooting SQL queries, stored procedures and ETL processes (required)

3 years' experience writing complex T-SQL queries, strong knowledge of DML, DDL, triggers, common table expressions (CTE), query tuning and performance optimization (required)

3 years' experience foundational data management practices, including:
  • implementation and/or support activity of Data Hub architecture, and supporting processes of data operations, integration, and governance (required)
  • demonstrated ability to design, build, manage and automate pipelines for data structures encompassing data transformation, data models, schemas, metadata, and workload management (required)
3 years' experience working with DevOps capabilities for version control, build automation, testing, and release management (e.g. Visual Studio, Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps) (required)

1 year experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services / modern data platform (required)

1 year experience working with C#, PowerShell, Azure functions and logic apps, Azure Key Vault, .Net core, Azure PaaS (preferred)

1 year experience with Integration with Salesforce platform technologies (preferred)

1 year experience with Exposure to hybrid deployments, cloud and on premise, with demonstrated ability to work across multiple deployment environments, operating systems (preferred)

1 year experience with Experience working with advanced analytics tools using languages such as R, Python, Java, C, or others (preferred)
