JOB DESCRIPTIONIf you are a

DESIGN ENGINEERING professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an outstanding opportunity for you! Based in our

SIDNEY, OH location, your duties will include invention, ideation, design layouts, tolerance application, material selection, and facilitating engineering documentation. This includes Bills of Material and Engineering Change Notices for new and modified products. This person will also own the design and development, including CAD modeling, engineering drawings, and technical documentation support. You may have the responsibility of problem-solving and delivery of quality design outputs.

AS A DESIGN ENGINEER / SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER, YOU WILL:
  • Establish and document component and assembly specifications, including the definition of required geometry, materials, allowable tolerances, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Apply basic mechanical sciences to perform design analysis of products and components, including static/dynamic analysis, the strength of materials, material selection, and design optimization.
  • Verify design intent by checking proper fit-up of components using CAD and tolerance stack-up analysis methods.
  • Produce and apply engineering calculations and operate computer programs to support design analysis and engineering efforts, including spreadsheets and other tools.
  • Establish and document component and assembly specifications, including the definition of required geometry, materials, allowable tolerances, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Support project teams to develop and document designs and specifications that meet the requirements of the product specifications and program charter.
  • Develop and verify accuracy and consistency of engineering drawings and CAD/CAE models per corporate engineering standards and ASME 14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance requirements.
  • Create design layouts of compressor assemblies, sub-systems, and components that establish spatial requirements and relationships of components to ensure the functionality of design intent.
  • Produce and maintain accurate design records in accordance with specific project requirements using accepted corporate methods and design standards, including 3D models, 2D drawings, specifications, and related documentation.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Engineering labs, manufacturing facilities, Supplier Quality, Procurement, and Advanced Manufacturing groups.
  • Participate in global collaboration efforts with peer engineering facilities to develop new products jointly and promote consistent design practices.

Flexible Work Schedule – Remote Work Option and Core HoursThis role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to three days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent plus two (2) years of work experience in mechanical design and/or manufacturing industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience (co-op experience may be considered)
  • Experience or knowledge of 3D modeling and CAD
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools: Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering plus five (5) years or more work experience in mechanical design and/or manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge and experience with the HVAC/R industry
  • Knowledge and experience of mechanical hardware, including compressors or pumps in mass production
  • Experience in or exposure to basic manufacturing processes and new technology
  • 3000+ hours of experience with CAD software
  • 500+ hours of experience with Teamcenter PLM software
  • DFMEA
  • Experience with Tolerance Stack-up Analysis
