Job Description

As the dock team leader, you will be responsible for facilitating a team, including: Scheduling, distribution of tasks and resources and communication oftargets. You will provide leadership and direction that promotes safe work practices and improves quality and productivity. You will a 2-2-3, day-shift schedule.

Activities and duties may vary dependent upon site-specific needs. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:

  • Working on the dock whenever unexpected absenteeism occurs or to meet customer needs.
  • Tracking and providing feedback to the manager on the team's performance.
  • Coordinating activities for team members on your shift.
  • Promoting and facilitating the personal development of team members by identifying needs for training, as well as providing training.
  • Ensuring all employees are following the standard operating procedures and training instructions.
  • Leading efforts to identify root causes and putting preventative actions in place for quality- and safety-related issues.
  • Working closely with other team members and managers to provide consistent expectations and drive continuous improvement.
  • Supporting the 5S, housekeeping, Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) projects and recycling programs.
  • Collaborating with other functional areas to resolve problems and develop improvedprocesses.
  • Reducingwaste and process complexity.
  • Assigning personnel responsibilities and ensuring teamwork among everyone on the shift to maximize efficiency.

Qualifications

What we will be looking for in you:

Essential:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • General knowledge and ability to work with computers (Excel, Word, MFGPRO).
  • Willingness to act as an additional dock resource by taking a hands-on approach to day-to-dayactivities.
  • Regard safety as a core value. Must serve as role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures.
  • Actively contribute in a team-based environment, encouraging open communication and positive interaction with peers and management to effectively reach common goals.
  • Strong service and quality focus. Ability to address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand root causes, then communicate/educate the team in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated record of flexibility and dependability in order to support team and customer focus.
  • Strong detail orientation and ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience
