Job Summary Dominion Energy is seeking to hire Engineering Technician(s) within our Corrosion department. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with customers, contractors, public officials and company personnel. Must be willing to work indoors on corrosion project design, records research and updates. Will involve outdoor work in all weather climates inspecting remediation projects, locating gas lines, corrosion activities, close interval surveys, etc. Requires the ability to: perceive, analyze and resolve problems; work independently and in a team environment. In addition to performing other engineering technician duties that may be assigned, this role performs tests, repairs and maintenance related to pipeline corrosion. Inspects and tests facilities and equipment to identify existing and potential corrosion problems. Researches, designs and recommends course of action to eliminate or retard corrosion activity. Installs and inspects cathodic protection equipment. Repairs, replaces and services corrosion equipment components. Identifies outside currents that could affect company operations, and initiates corrective steps. Maintains interactive work relationship with other Technicians and Contractors to accurately and effectively complete job responsibilities. Directs and supports contractors to complete pipe to soil readings, remediation measures in the cathodic protection systems and other related functions. Maintains both paper and electronic documents as they apply to corrosion control activities. This position does not offer relocation assistance. This role will be responsible for the entire Ohio service territory. The pay rate for this position is $27.45/hr.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Requirements (please make sure you include how you meet this requirement on your resume):
  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must have an understanding of electricity and electronics to include: circuits, terminology, and electrical components.
  • Applicant must have and maintain a valid vehicle operator's license.
  • Requires good personal computer skills and working knowledge of company used programs (ex: Microsoft Word and Excel; etc.)
  • Must be willing to travel out of his or her normally assigned work area and work overtime as required. Occasional overnight stays may be required.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Successful applicant will possess NACE Level I certification or the ability to successfully complete NACE Level I certification within 18 months of obtaining the position. The Company will provide a maximum of two (2) training sessions and on-the-job training to prepare the employee for certification.
  • Good math organizational and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Experience with cathodic protection systems and corrosion fundamentals.
  • Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions.

The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined below:
  • Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined under Minimum Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of GIS and mechanical aptitude in machinery
  • Construction experience.
  • Experience, education or course work in the following: Electrician, Electronics Engineering Technology, Construction, Engineering or related experience.

Education Requirements Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Associate
