The Data & ETL Test Engineer is a key member of the digital product quality team, and is responsible for the planning, design, implementation, and automation of test scripts to assure the highest levels of data quality.The engineer focuses on data pipeline and data integration scenarios, applying expertise and rigor in throughout the software development and testing lifecycles, to enable increased release velocity, increased software quality, and decreased deployment risk.Essential Job Functions- Implements and manages automated and manual data testing scenarios through development, test and production environments. Assures quality of datasets being integrated with downstream systems.
- Collaborates with product teams, including development, data engineering, develop, and product owners, to ensure quality testing plan is applied with rigor to ongoing team sprints.
- Builds and communicates robust test scenarios within lifecycle management toolset, working closing with team members to ensure comprehensive view of test scenarios and traceability to requirements.
- Reviews product user stories, clarifying and refining data requirements. Defines test strategy, designs test cycles, builds scripts, and performs test execution.
- Informs the development team of defects and errors using the lifecycle management toolset.
- Automates scenarios and dataset comparisons, accounts for needed data setup activities, provides ongoing maintenance for automated scripts as part of CI/CD and regression cycles.
- Conducts readiness reviews, defect reviews, and status calls; proactively communicates to needed stakeholders to keep delivery on track.
- Drives continuous improvement and automation in the software testing lifecycle. Works tirelessly to reduce manual activities and cycle time.
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, information systems, sciences, or technology concentration (required)
- Master's Degree (preferred)
- 4 years of experience in ETL / data testing (required)
- 4 years of experience in SQL creation & analysis with demonstrated strength with complex SQL queries (required)
- 4 years of experience partnering with development and/or devOps teams for all stages of SDLC and STLC (required)
- 3 years of experience working with agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence, ALM/Octane, Azure DevOps) (required)
- 2 years of programming experience of automated data validation and data comparison (required)
- 1 year of experience with test management systems (ALM QC, Qmetry, etc.) (required)
- 1 year of experience with data automation validation tools (Katalon, Informatica DVO) (preferred)
- 1 year of experience testing in cloud platforms (MS Azure, managed SQL, IICS, etc.) (preferred)
- 1 year of programming experience (Java, Python) (preferred)
- Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
- Long-distance or air travel as needed- not to exceed 10% travel.
- Prolonged periods of working alone.
