Our customer in the healthcare industry has asked us to help them find an Infrastructure Administrator to join their team. This is a Direct Hire (perm) role and will require them to work onsite in the Shaker Heights area.The Infrastructure Administrator’s role is to design, install, administer, and optimize company servers and related components (infrastructure and storage) whether physical, virtual, or cloud-based to achieve high performance of the various business applications supported by tuning the servers as necessary. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. Where applicable, the Infrastructure Administrator will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data center/server farm.
Strategy & Planning- Develop strategies for client/server implementations; architect the infrastructure required to support those strategies.
- Develop strategies and business cases to determine optimal designs between physical, virtual and cloud-based solutions.
- Act as project lead in the design and review of new server systems, active directory structures, applications, and hardware; conduct capacity planning as needed.
- Lead, coordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to the client/server environment.
- Coordinate and collaborate with network engineering, business application, and database administration function to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate servers to meet business demands.
- Establish and implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure server reliability and security.
- Assist in designing and implementing data center/server room security features, including HVAC control, environmental alarms, access restrictions, and so on.
- Conduct research on server hardware, software, and protocols in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Deployment Leverage current deployment methodologies and automation techniques to optimize standard operational processes.
- When necessary, draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
- Perform standards-based procedures to monitor and manage servers and storage and take appropriate action.
- Partner with Services team to address production impacting issues and respond to service desk tickets as appropriate.
- Serve as cornerstone for escalating server issues; provide timely response to customer escalations.
- Perform file system configuration and management; define and perform server backups and recovery procedures.
- Plan and implement server upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches.
- Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
- Manage Active Directory services and supporting server infrastructure.
- Recommend and execute modifications to server environment in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
- Develop and maintain training materials and server documentation.
- Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the IT team.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Microsoft Certification, VMWare Certifications, HP Certifications, and ITIL certification are a plus but not required.
- A minimum of 4 years of infrastructure work experience is required, six years’ experience can off-set degree requirement.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft operating systems and active directory environments required. Knowledge ranging from Server version 2008 up to the current Azure framework would be a plus.
- Experience working with virtual environments, especially VMWare is required.
- Experience working with SAN and NAS environments.
- Solid understanding of networking basics and the interaction with compute and storage environments.
- Competent and proficient understanding of healthcare platforms, from EHRs to Ancillary systems provides an advantage
- Solid working knowledge of current Internet-based technologies.
- Technically competent with network monitoring tools, MS Office, Visio, and alike.
- 40-hour onsite work week with rotation through a 24x7 on-call schedule.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required in meet project deadlines or perform maintenance tasks in off-hours.
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices and objects.
- Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
- Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients, stakeholders, or off-site personnel/management.
- Ability to climb ladders, crouch under desks, and move quickly when necessary.
- Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals for distances up to several hundred feet.
- Have a vehicle to facilitate travel between offices across Northeastern Ohio.
