Job Description:Information TechnologyThis is for AEP (American Electric Power) Commercial Operations. The ideal candidate will have will have experience in all phases of software development: gathering user requirements, making architecture decisions, coding and testing, debugging, and enhancing based on user needs. Our applications are written in C# or VBA (Excel add-ins and automation). A very good understanding of how to use Excel is essential. The databases are mostly Oracle-based, so an understanding of how to properly structure data tables and write/optimize queries in Oracle is important. We also work with data vendors to assure the business we support has the data they need, and part of that is consuming data from their REST APIs. Experience with git is helfpul, as is experience with RPA.

Working under general supervision or independently, the IT Software Developer will lead and participate in the design, coding, testing and delivery of software solutions that are consistent with AEP standards and practices. The developer must lead and function as a member of a team and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle. Possesses an advanced level of proficiency in skills and knowledge.

1) Design, develop or modify code according to AEP standards and practices

2) Identify and remove software defects

3) Give direction as technical lead and works with team members

4) Provide solution ideas and direction

5) Use software testing tools to assure the creation of software having the fewest defects

6) Lead and participate in Code reviews

7) Share responsibility and assist team members in achieving goals

8) Communicate effectively with others.

9) Mentor peers and junior software developers

10) Participate in the standards process

11) Collaborate with architect, analyst, project manager and customers

IT Software Developer Sr. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Education requirements are listed below:
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science
  • OR Associates Degree in Computer Science with 2 years of IT Software Developer experience
  • OR High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of IT Software Developer experience.
Work Experience requirement listed below:

Typically 8 or more years in dominant project language or related experience (in addition to any experience identified above).

IT Software Developer Lead BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Education requirements are listed below:
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science
  • OR Associates Degree in Computer Science with 2 years of IT Software Developer experience
  • OR High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of IT Software Developer experience.
Work Experience requirement listed below:

Typically 12 or more years in dominant project language or related experience (in addition to any experience identified above).
