Role: Linux System Administrator

Duration: 6 Months Contract To Hire

Location: 101 West Prospect Ave, Cleveland, OH 44115

Job Description:Linux System Administrator will install, configure, document, monitor, manage, update, and support PC hardware, peripherals, operating system, e-mail client, browser, and office suite used in more than 4,000 stores and branches located in the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. Systems supply computing platform for internally developed business applications used to record Point of Sale, general accounting, and operational transactions. Systems are geographically dispersed, deployed using a replicated site model, and remotely administered and supported.

Software platform consists of:
  • Oracle Enterprise Linux
  • Progress Open Edge RDBMS
  • Libre Office suite
  • Firefox web browser
  • Thunderbird e-mail client
  • Internally developed paint store management applications

Mandatory Skills:
  • 1-3 years experience as a Linux Administrator Shell scripting.
  • Experience installing and trouble shooting images within the Linux system.

Desired Skills:
  • Installation and configuration of Linux on hardware and VM.
  • Experience with C, C, or Java programing.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols, network hardware, and network administration.
  • Experience with remote administration tools such as Ansible, Puppet, and Chef.

  • Scripting with PERL and PYTHON.
  • Security protocols as systems are patched quarterly.
