Founded in 1837, Cuyahoga County’s safety-net health system operates four hospitals, four emergency departments and more than 20 health centers.Summary:Supports and coordinates with the Legal Department in responding to and assessing potential claims and other clinical risk events arising across The MetroHealth System. Works alongside the Coordinator, Insurance/Litigation Management to support the General Counsel and Associate General Counsels in achieving clinical risk management objectives and executing on performance improvement, peer review, and other quality review functions. Collaborates with other departments including the Institute of Patient Centered Excellence, Health Information Management, and Clinical Leadership.Qualifications:Required

Bachelor’s degree in a related or any or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below.

5 years’ experience in responding to or assessing clinical risk issues through hands-on clinical work, education and training or law firm experience.

Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality, corporate decorum and social sensitivity required for the position.

Ability to work independently and with others.

Ability to organize, be self-directed and to accept increasing levels of responsibility.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.

Ability to obtain Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) within 18 months of hire.

Ability to interact with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.Preferred:

Clinical experience in a hospital setting.

Registered Nurse or bachelor’s degree in health-related science.

Knowledge of database management and spreadsheets.Physical Demands:

May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.

May need to sit or stand for extended periods.

Ability to communicate via face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.

See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.

May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion.
