Position Summary

MRO Support provides system administration and support enabling efficient and effective Meter and Revenue Operations for our Operating Companies. We are responsible for meter head-end systems such as Landis + Gyr Command Center, Itron Utility IQ, Clevest Fieldnet, and other meter data systems such as Oracle's Meter Data Management System and Meter Asset Management Systems. We drive key strategic initiatives that enhance and improve performance of our systems and business processes, enabling AEP to adapt to rapidly changing meter technology. This position will ensure accurate and timely meter data records for the following Business Processes: Billing,Meter Asset Management and Financial Reporting, Regulatory obligations, Revenue protection activities, meter inventory audits, and Mass Meter Installations. This position will primary help support our two AMI Head-end systems Command Center and UIQ. This position will also help with any data reporting and analysis. Collaborate with our Operating Company customers, C&DS peers and IT partners, driving for continuous improvement. This position works under close supervision and assists others to provide support to the Operating Company MRO Organizations. Assists with less complex requests and issues.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Develop subject matter expertise in both AMI head-end systems supporting Operating Company MRO organizations
  • Actively seek to understand the business. Understand the business environment in which we operate. Be knowledgeable about the business, key functions and industry trends relative to own job.
  • Create business process documentation to support customers in the Operating Companies
  • Work to resolve outstanding system issues by applying knowledge of application functionality and associated business processes. Interact effectively with Business Unit and IT personnel to provide input to change requests and to ensure the completeness of enhancement requirements and process considerations.
  • Assist in the resolution of end users requests and system defects.
  • Communicate with end users to understand issues and questions on issues, and set expectations of resolution timeframe based on priorities
  • Identify and initiate process improvements
  • Review reports and identify anomalies by applying analytical skills and assist with report generation.
  • Contribute to the definition and creation of system queries and data extract requests to support and fulfill internal and Operating Company requests
  • Ability to retrieve data from various sources as necessary
  • Researches and gathers data to make data-driven decisions
  • Able to utilize tools and application to efficiently complete tasks
  • Able to troubleshoot issues with little to no guidance
  • Experience working with networked meter systems, MDS, MACSS, MDM, and AMI Head End Systems

    Education/Experience

    Associate's Degree in Engineering, Business, IT or related field such as Engineering or Computer Technology;

    (Or) High School Diploma or GED and Minimum of two (2) years of related experience

    (Or) High School Diploma or GED and Minimum of four (4) years of related experience

    Additional Information

    Some overtime and minimal travel expected.

    The preferred candidate will have:
  • Organizational, time management and communication skills are mandatory.
  • Competency in PC skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook is required.
  • Knowledge of Excel, SQL and other analytical/query tools is preferred.
  • Prior experience and proficiency with VBA (Visual Basic) or other automated scripting tools to develop and support Macros is highly preferred.
  • Competency with Excel functions, pivot tables is preferred
  • Competency with Microsoft Access databases is preferred
