Job Description

SUMMARY:

Associated Materials is a manufacturer of professionally installed exterior building products with 11 manufacturing facilities and over 100 Supply Centers across North America and Canada. Reporting to the Director of IT, Technical Services the Network Engineer will have the primary responsibility of management, maintenance, troubleshooting, design and implementation of the voice and data network environments for these facilities.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Configures and administers Cisco ACS, Cisco networking devices, Cisco Meraki and legacy wireless, Cisco ASA Firewalls and Cisco Call Center/Contact Center for the manufacturing facilities and supply centers throughout North America.
  • Work with VOIP vendor to solve voice issues.
  • Maintains WAN connectivity between corporate facility and all AM locations including Internet connectivity.
  • Escalate outages to 3rd party vendors and provide support for AM voice, data and mobility solutions and initiatives.

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responds to and resolves requests from end users regarding communication and WAN issues.
  • Use Project Management software to log status, hours and complete projects on time.
  • Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves voice, data and mobility issues for AM Plants and Supply Centers.
  • Configures, administers, installs, and upgrade voice, data, wireless and mobility components.
  • Remotely administers and maintains complex TCP/IP networks using routers and switches.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation related to the voice, data and mobility solutions.
  • Recommends tests and schedules and implements upgrades (firmware, patches) for support systems.
  • Provides proactive monitoring of network using network management software.
  • Provides capacity planning for internal and external network connections.
  • Provides 24 x 7 production support as needed
  • Performs occasional night/weekend work as required due to environmental constraints.
  • Works with 3rd Party Vendors for various services related to voice, data, and mobility solution at AM.
  • Maintain professional attitude and demeanor as to facilitate the professionalism of the IT department.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a WAN/ Network / Telephony support role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Network or Technology. Certifications will be reviewed in substitution.
  • Experience configuring network infrastructure products.
  • Experience supporting Cisco products identified above and other switching technology is a bonus.
  • Strong communication, multi-tasking, project management and interpersonal skills.
