About the Opportunity

The Markets BDG staff provides high-level day-to-day operational support services for the Markets Group's mission critical systems and databases. Markets business objectives are supported through implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the Markets Groups systems.

Database Administrators provide operational production support in an environment where change control, incident management, and compliance policies and procedures are enforced. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to understand complex application flows that include middleware, operating systems, and databases while performing troubleshooting and analysis.

Database Administrators act as technical resources for the Markets Group's major projects and will assist with the implementation of code deployments and infrastructure components. Working with the Markets Operations Support Team requires strong communications and customer service skills.

The successful candidate would be required to demonstrate strong Oracle database administration skills, strong communication skills, the ability to work in a mission critical environment, the ability to work independently and the willingness to accept new technical challenges. While you will get guidance from peers it will be encouraged to show the ability to work independently and showing the willingness to accept new technical challenges.

What You Will Do:
  • Set up backup and recovery procedures for Markets' databases.
  • Implement and test Oracle high availability solutions.
  • Perform periodic exercises to validate backup and recovery procedures.
  • Perform maintenance, monitoring and tuning of Markets databases.
  • Monitor production data processes, performance, and database capacity issues.
  • Provide support in database design and application development.
  • Administer and monitor database security.
  • Implement and maintain DBA policies, procedures/manuals.
  • Deploy Markets application related database changes and support application testing.
  • Assist Markets application support groups with application troubleshooting in QA and Production environments.
  • Participate in quarterly patching events.
  • Assist with security administration for the Group's applications and databases.
  • Support contingency tests and application site rotation.
  • Assist in ad hoc projects, assignments, and responsibilities as necessary.
  • Provide on-call and weekend support on a rotational basis.

Qualifications:
  • At least 2+ years of experience of database administration and troubleshooting.
  • Support Markets applications deployments and testing for both weekday and weekend code deployments.
  • The successful candidate would be part of a team that provides 24x7 support.
  • Experience as a DBA with Oracle 12C and working knowledge of Oracle 19C.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle internals and procedural language (PL/SQL).
  • Familiarity with Oracle High Availability solutions: DataGuard, RAC, RAC1N.
  • Familiarity with Oracle RMAN, Flashback, and Data Pump.
  • Familiarity with Oracle AWR, ASH.
  • Experience working in and administering a medium or large-scale Linux and Sun Solaris based computing environments.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and highly responsible to time critical issues.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Support Markets application problem resolution.
  • Administer enterprise monitoring of server performance, availability, and security.
  • Knowledge of system backup and recovery solutions.
  • Support QA, Production, and contingency tests.

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of Golden Gate.
  • Knowledge of Oracle multitenant architecture.
  • Knowledge of CommVault backup.
  • Knowledge of IBM WebSphere based applications.
  • Knowledge of UNIX shell scripting.

  • The hiring range is $79,100 - $98,900 annually.
