Full job description
The Plant Supervisor is fully responsible for the oversight and management of all day-to-day operations and personnel within their respective manufacturing facility. The Supervisor is expected to produce and ship products to their respective customers with these 5 key metrics in mind: Safety, Quality, Production, On-time Delivery, and Plant Cleanliness. The goal of each Plant Supervisor is to manage and equip their direct reports with the necessary knowledge to work autonomously in daily operations while each facility maintains a safe work environment, is able to maintain a profitable business, as well as works collaboratively to continue growth within the facility.
The Plant Supervisor role is a leadership position with a wide array of requirements and responsibilities. Therefore, it is imperative that qualified applicants possess a diverse skill set to be successful in his/her role:
· Safety Oriented- Must have the safety of all employees as their top priority. This includes but is not limited to housekeeping and knowledge of basic OSHA requirements.
· Problem Solving – Work to find the best solutions to personnel issues, and production and equipment challenges.
· Collaboration – A Plant Supervisor must cooperatively communicate with the Operations Manager, executives, and staff employees across the multi-company organization to effectively work through processes and challenges.
· Organizational Skills – Routinely manage multiple priorities, an essential characteristic of a role that juggles a variety of competing projects and functions.
· Adaptability – A Plant Supervisor must be able to respond quickly to a shifting reality, adjusting initiatives and priorities accordingly.
· Critical Thinking – A successful Plant Supervisor will align the best teams to work within the plant facility, simultaneously working together to create profitable entities all while working in accordance with Millwood's purpose, mission statement, and philosophy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Staff and ensure training of facility personnel
· Work in production when staffing needs dictate
· Must know and understand each role within the manufacturing facility and know-how to train for each role
· Conduct all daily safety talks
· Oversee operations to ensure safety
· Develop plans that help operations run smoothly
· Manage production
· Collect and review data to reduce inefficiencies and waste
· Evaluate employees and give suggestions for improvement
· Perform routine safety checks on equipment
· Meet monthly by phone or in-person with the Operations Manager to review Millwood's five key metrics (Safety, Quality, Production, On-time Delivery, and Plant Cleanliness) as well as, plant-specific needs, goals, challenges and/or equipment.
· Ability to learn and teach necessary processes from the current ERP system (Epicor)
· Handling sensitive information in a confidential manner
· Work with and through the Operations Manager to keep building structure in good working order and up to date on all routine maintenance.
· Must keep customer needs a top priority by responding quickly to any customer needs requested the sales team or other colleagues.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
· High School Diploma required
· 5 +years of manufacturing experience
· 2+ years of supervisory experience
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Must be willing to obtain OSHA 10-hour certification
· May be required to travel to other plant locations or home office and directed by Operations Manager
