The Principal Digital Solutions Technologist is responsible for providing subject matter expertise for delivery of comprehensive digital solutions to transportation agencies for all infrastructure life-cycle phases, including planning, design, construction, asset management, maintenance, and operations taking digital geospatial solutions from original concept through final implementation.The ideal candidate will have the skillsets to:

This opportunity will supervise geospatial technical staff, mentoring and supporting staff through career growth with right fit assignments. The Geoanalytics Team within DTS develops analytical solutions from diverse data sources via analytical models through ETL processes such as FME or python, offering insights for improved decision-making and visualizing those insights in compelling ways. The data sources are diverse and often very large, beyond what can be appropriately modeled in the tools that most transportation engineers and planners use. This team helps unlock the underlying data story and communicate it to stakeholders. The team lead sets and executes team vision.What You'll Do:
Leads and/or operates various computer-based traffic management systems to manage traffic and incidents on roadways and improve traffic conditions.
Leads and/or monitors roadways via CCTV surveillance cameras and detection systems. Leads and/or monitors all traffic devices and computer equipment associated with the system.
Maintains advanced knowledge on the operation of all traffic equipment, computers and software associated with the traffic systems.
Utilizes traffic equipment for incident management and the improvement of travel time, safety, and quality of life of the traveling motorists and toll customers.
Continually checks the accuracy and validity of the messages displayed on all DMS and 511.
Aware of all 511 messages broad-casted on a particular system.
Ensures entry incident information into computer systems using traffic software.
Maintains expert knowledge with the roadways and understands the purpose and location of each traffic device (i.e. detector stations, CCTV, and 511).
Alerts operator staff to new and existing memos / information / changes.
Uses SOG to detect, dispatch, monitor, and document roadway incidents.
Confers with RTMC partners (highway patrol, Road Rangers, Local Law Enforcement, Fire Rescue, etc.) as well as adjacent Traffic Management Centers or other DOT Districts to coordinate resources for incidents that may affect regional travel.
Dispatches Road Rangers and assist Road Rangers with other tasks, such as phone calls, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Safety or related degree and 5 years’ experience in a directly comparable role, or
In lieu of education, 9 years’ experience in a directly comparable role.
What You'll Bring:
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Experience in sales and client facing roles in the transportation industry.
Business skills, organizational skills, and analytical skills
At least 3 years’ experience managing staff and leading projects
Deep familiarity with ESRI tools and products
Experience using tools such as FME or python for ETL
Familiarity with leveraging libraries for modeling, analysis and deep learning
Understanding of transportation data analysis and modeling best practices.
Reporting solutions such as ArcGIS Dashboards, Tableau, PowerBI or similar
What We Prefer:
Master’s degree or higher in project management, planning, engineering, or related technical field.
Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Scrum Master or similar certifications.
