Monitors, reviews and applies correct coding principles to clinical information received from ambulatory areas for the purpose of reimbursement, research and compliance. Identifies and applies diagnosis codes, cot codes and modifiers as appropriately supported by the medical record in accordance with federal regulations. Ensures that billing discrepancies are held and corrected.This position is based out of our Main Campus location and will work from home most of the time. Preference will be given to candidates residing in Northeast Ohio. CPC Certification and some coding experience strongly preferred!For this role some coding experience is preferred. This position is local remote, only residents of Ohio will be considered!Responsibilities:Compares and reconciles daily patient schedules, census, and registration to billing and medical records documentation for accurate charge submission, which includes processing of professional charges, facility charges, manual data entry.

Maintains records for reconciliation and charge follow up.

Meets coding deadlines to expedite the billing process and to facilitate data availability for CCF providers to ensure appropriate continuity of care.

Investigates and resolves charge errors.

Maintains proficiency in related CCF billing systems and productivity standards.

Utilizes ICD#9, ICD#10 and CPT-4 coding systems and materials.

Other duties as assigned.

Education:High school diploma or equivalent. Specific training related to CPT procedural coding and ICD#9, ICD#10 diagnostic coding through continuing education programs/seminars and/or community college.

Working knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, disease processes and demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.

Candidate must successfully obtain coding certification ( CPC,CCS-P, RHIT or CCA) within one year from date of hire.

Certifications:Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist Physician (CCS-P), Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Certified Coding Associate (CCA) preferred.

Complexity of Work:Coding assessment relevant to the work may be required.

Requires critical thinking and analytical skills, decisive judgment and work with minimal supervision.

Applicant must be able to work under pressure to meet imposed deadlines and take appropriate actions.

Work Experience:This position is for an entry level non-certified professional with a minimum of one year related experience in health care environment or medical setting or a new graduate from an accredited program (CPC,CCS-P).In order to move forward, trainee must have successfully obtained their coding certification ( CPC,CCS-P, RHIT, CCA) RHIT, CCA).

Preferred experience and certification:We are only seeking candidates who have obtained their coding certification: CPC-A, CPC, CCSP, RHIA or RHIT or CCA certification. Please provide your member ID number for your certification when submitting your application. Experience in a Healthcare environment is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:Typical physical demands involve prolonged sitting and/or traveling through various locations in the hospital and dexterity to accurately operate a data entry/PC keyboard.

Manual dexterity required to locate and lift medical charts.

Ability to work under stress and to meet imposed deadlines.

Personal Protective Equipment:Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
