Position Overview:Client is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Columbus office and support the successful delivery of heavy civil construction projects. This role will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Estimators, and subcontractors to assist with project coordination, documentation, scheduling, procurement, and cost tracking. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to build a long-term career in heavy civil construction. This position offers a clear path for advancement into Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager roles. Key ResponsibilitiesSupport Project Managers with day-to-day project administration and coordinationPrepare, track, and maintain RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project correspondenceReview project drawings, specifications, and contract documentsMaintain drawing logs, document control systems, and revision trackingAssist with procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor servicesCoordinate material deliveries and communicate project needs with field personnelTrack project quantities, production rates, and progress updatesAssist with project scheduling and milestone trackingSupport permit applications, utility notifications (OUPS), and inspection coordinationPrepare meeting agendas, attend project meetings, and distribute meeting minutesAssist with monthly cost reporting, forecasting, and pay application preparationMaintain accurate As-Built drawings and closeout documentationCoordinate with surveyors, engineers, owners, and subcontractors to resolve project issuesEnsure project records are complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with company standardsPromote and support company safety initiatives and compliance requirements QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred0–3 years of construction experience; internships or co-op experience in heavy civil construction are highly valuedAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and contractsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication abilitiesAbility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentProficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and BluebeamExperience with Procore, Primavera P6, HeavyJob, HeavyBid, HCSS, AutoCAD, or similar construction software is a plusUnderstanding of site development, earthwork, utilities, grading, and road construction is preferredSelf-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn.
