B&W is seeking a talented, motivated, and experienced Research, Development, & Commercialization Engineer to join our BrightLoop, chemical looping team. As an Advisory Engineer , you will function as a technical research specialist within the BrightLoop team, providing crucial technical input at all levels of the company. Your primary role will be to lead research, development and commercialization efforts aimed at deploying B&W's world-class technologies, primarily BrightLoop, for conversion of fossil and biomass fuels to energy, chemicals and fuels as well other as cutting-edge technologies for environmental emissions controls. We collaborate with utilities to provide reliable, clean energy to the public and work with industrial clients to reduce the environmental impact of power and steam generation processes. The Research engineer will directly engage with B&W's BrightLoop technology portfolio and specialize in the support of projects where BrightLoop is being commercialized at scale.

Job Requirements:

Lead R&D project technical scope, directing experimental bench, sub-pilot & pilot-scale process evaluations in a safe manner.

Propose and manage projects with governmental and/or NGO funding, ensuring successful applications and projects execution.

Serve as the chemical looping research technical specialist for the organization, applying advanced concepts, principles, and methods.

Provide support for commissioning, startup, and operation of commercial demonstration chemical looping systems in the field.

Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments related to B&W's R&D portfolio with specific expertise in and responsibility for chemical looping, particle development, kinetics, hydrodynamics, pressure balanced moving packed bed operation, and/or fluidization.

Apply technical expertise to other B&W established products including but not limited to bubbling fluid bed boilers and circulating fluid bed boilers.

Engage with and provide input to B&W business development leaders, B&W management, and external customers to develop project technical application strategies, business cases for new BrightLoop opportunities.

Stay informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization, recommending necessary changes in programs or applications.

Plan, schedule, or coordinate the preparation of drawings, documents, and activities for multiple major projects or an entire program.

Review procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures.

Provide site support for field demonstrations, pilot units, and full size commercial units on complex technical issues, ensuring the resolution of technical challenges.

Author complex technical reports to communicate research findings effectively and make presentation and industry

Keep informed of new methods and developments affecting technology and the organization, recommending new practices or changes in program emphasis.

Interact with external customers, architects and engineers (A/Es), vendors, university partners, industry organizations, government agencies, national labs, and sublet engineers as needed.

Lead project meetings and make presentations to internal and external stakeholders.

Represent the organization and maintain liaisons with individuals and related organizations.

Perform all other duties as assigned to support the organization's goals.

PhD in Chemical Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program is required.2 to 5 years of graduate student project experience in chemical looping, hydrodynamics, particle kinetics, and fluid bed & packed moving bed design and operation is required;5 to 10 years of professional industry experience in fluid bed or moving bed design and operation;
