The Senior Data Engineer is technology expert in who works closely with a multidisciplinary team, to ensure the highest quality design, build and optimization of data pipelines supporting digital product solutions.

This individual is a leader who uses their advanced knowledge of data engineering concepts and integration tools to continuously develop new and improved capabilities. This role is that of an advanced practitioner who is able to readily contribute to the definition, growth and execution of the digital team's data initiatives.

Essential Job Functions
  • Works to identify business problems that can be solved and product features that can be enhanced by data engineering and analytics.
  • Provides subject matter expertise as a product team member, for identification, estimation, and implementation of data solutions to business use cases.
  • Collaborates with data analysts, key data consumers and application developers to optimize models and algorithms for data quality, security, and governance.
  • Solicits, understands, and ensures compliance with data governance and data security requirements while creating and improving integrated and reusable data pipelines, to enable faster data access and improved time-to-solution for data and analytics initiatives.
  • Leads engineering communities of practice (CoP) to expand influence and quality across the digital organization.
  • Designs end to end DataOps and analytical workflows, including overall architecture, capabilities, platforms, tools and governing processes.
  • Mentors data team members to grow capabilities and mitigate product delivery risks

Licensing/Certification
  • Azure Data Engineer Associate (preferred)

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Cystems, other engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or Data management OR a 4-year degree with equivalent professional experience (required)
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Information Systems. (preferred)

Work Experience
  • 5 yrs experience in a data engineering or architecture role
  • 5 yrs. experience designing, building, deploying and troubleshooting data extract and load jobs
  • 5 yrs. experience Microsoft SQL Server / managed SQL Instance implementation in Azure, data modeling and design
  • 5 yrs. experience building DB objects, authoring and troubleshooting SQL queries, stored procedures and ETL processes
  • 5 yrs. experience writing complex T-SQL queries, strong knowledge of DML, DDL, triggers, common table expressions (CTE), query tuning and performance optimization
  • 3 yrs. experience foundational data management practices, including: Implementation and/or support activity of Data Hub architecture, and supporting processes of data operations, integration, and governance. Demonstrated ability to design, build, manage and automate pipelines for data structures encompassing data transformation, data models, schemas, metadata, and workload management
  • 3 yrs. experience working with DevOps and continuous integration capabilities for version control, build automation, testing, and release management (e.g. Visual Studio, Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
  • 3 yr experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services / Azure data factory

Preferred skills, knowledge, abilities:
  • 1 year of experience working with C#, PowerShell, Azure functions and logic apps, Azure Key Vault, .Net core, Azure PaaS.
  • 1 year of integration with Salesforce platform technologies
  • 3 year of exposure to hybrid deployments, cloud and on premise, with demonstrated ability to work across multiple deployment environments, operating systems.
  • 3 year of experience working with advanced analytics tools and programming anguages such as R, Python, Java, C#, C, or others.
