Job Number: 708 Riverside Research is seeking a Senior Open Architecture (OA) Architect to support the Air Force customer on their research and development efforts. As a key member of Riverside Research, the Senior OA Architect will work closely with the Government customer to implement state-of the-art OA mission capabilities. The chosen candidate will serve as a senior technical member of a team consisting of software engineers, data architects, cybersecurity engineers and researchers to develop and demonstrate technology and advanced component prototype solutions to evolve and expand emerging OA standards and approaches for current and next-generation Air Force and DoD weapon systems. The engineer will provide mature, robust OA solutions to rapidly integrate mission systems, facilitate mission system capability evolution, as well as sustained competition across the system life cycle. Job Responsibilities:
  • Survey and monitor progress of current and emerging OA standards
  • Perform gap analysis to determine deficiencies in current OA standards and technologies
  • Collaborate with the Government in the OA Management Standards Governance process
  • Lead the preparation and submittal of changes to OA standards and documentation
  • Architect and design software systems and systems of systems
  • Lead the design of feasibility/interoperability studies for OAs
  • Perform as the SME on OA standards and technologies
  • Mentor engineers in the architecture of open standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related STEM degree
  • Experience with C and Java programming languages
  • 5+ years of experience iteratively designing and developing software architectures
  • 2+ years of experience developing and refining open architecture standards
  • Experience with cross-platform development (Linux and Windows)
  • Experience with source control (Git)

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with Open Mission Systems (OMS)
  • Experience with interoperability studies between OA standards
  • Experience with Data Distribution Services (DDS)
  • Familiarization of avionics subsystems such as mission computers, navigation, communication links, weapons systems, electronic warfare and common avionics sensors
  • Experience building highly scalable distributed system-of-system applications
  • Familiarity working with serial interfaces, analog and digital I/O, TCP/IP, and avionic buses such as 1553 and ARINC 429/615/629/717
