Title: ServiceNow Software Engineer

Location: ALTA is supporting a contract opportunity working remote from anywhere in either the EST or CST time zone for a client located in the Cincinnati, OH area

Summary: As an engineer in the IT Service Management (ITSM) squad, you will be part of a team building the ITSM infrastructure, tools and integrations for exciting new digital services.

We transform and build out of the box capabilities, components, workflows, policies and configurations. Utilize API's that balance, support and create new digital services and products.

We are looking for a Software Engineer who can configure modules, develop integrations, create workflows and utilize advanced scripting skills when necessary to drive business value.

You will be part of every stage of development from scoping, designing, building, testing and deploying. As a member of an agile squad, your roles and responsibilities require participation in planning, reviews and retrospectives which drive products to delivery.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop solutions on the ServiceNow platform, including the creation and/or customization of the core applications such as Incident, Problem, Change, Service Requests, Knowledge and Flow Designer
  • Actively participate in daily scrums
  • Import and transform data into ServiceNow from external systems
  • Move updates sets between environments
  • Create custom applications within ServiceNow
  • Follow governance procedures to release code into Production
  • Create/edit ACLs, Script Includes, Client Scripts, Business Rules, UI Policies etc.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers to scope, define, build and test solutions
  • Drive high levels of client satisfaction and put the customer at the center
  • Thoroughly test code and participate in a code review
  • Mentor and coach other team members
  • Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve production issues
  • Utilize logging and error handling to proactively detect any issues
  • Remain current on ServiceNow functionality and opportunities (ServiceNow Upgrades, Community, Developer forum)
  • Apply agile/lean software development practices for customizations to the platform and applications
  • Utilize ServiceNow best practices to maintain system integrity and security (Use OOB functionality, document code, etc.)

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experiences
  • 3-5 years related experience
  • 3 years' experience on ServiceNow platform
  • ServiceNow Certified Systems Administrator
  • Experience administering a ServiceNow instance including group and user provisioning, ACLs, UI Actions, Catalog Items, Business Rules, Script Includes, etc.
  • Strong development, analytical and problem solving skills are a must
  • Advanced knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, AngularJS and CSS
  • Working knowledge of relational databases
  • Functional knowledge and practice with Standard Query Language (SQL)
  • Experience with Web Services, SOAP and RESTful APIs
  • Experience with IntegrationHub
  • Experienced understanding of web development concepts, writing best practices code, persistence layer technologies, infrastructure architecture (on premise including cloud based), debugging, testing and version control.
  • Knowledge and practical use of software development patterns
  • Experience and practical usage of Scrum, Agile, and waterfall SDLC methodologies
  • Practical knowledge and implementation experience of IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks (e.g. ITIL)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • ITIL v3+ certification
  • Experience with Automated Testing Framework
  • Experience developing in Service Portal
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist - ITSM
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer
  • Experience with cognitive service management frameworks
  • Experience with Oracle, MS SQL, Postgres, mySQL or Mongo Databases
