Job Description

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop applications for glass container manufacturing systems.
  • Responsible for tasks within all phases of application design, implementation, validation and deployment.
  • Contribute to next-generation automation efforts involving big data analysis and machine learning.
  • Implement new features in an existing source code base.
  • Maintain and support an existing source code base.
  • Follow documented processes and best practices.
  • Leverage tools for code maintenance and validation (e.g. source control).
  • Support efforts to evaluate existing product lifecycles and develop transition planning when necessary Documentation.

SCOPE AND IMPACT

  • This position is responsible for the development, deployment, and sustainment of the many applications that support our glass manufacturing operation globally. This individual will be expected to help maintain legacy code bases, some of which are 20+ years old. The individual will also contribute to the design of new applications.
  • This position will impact the automation, reliability, stability, safety and cost of our glass manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering or equivalent BS degree/experience.
  • 2-5 years Software Engineering experience.
  • Experience developing real-time embedded systems.
  • Experience with C.
  • Experience with industrial communications such as TCP/IP, OPC, Modbus etc.
  • Experience in database design, development, and creation of database queries in SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and/or PostgreSQL.
  • Exposure to programming for analytics.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a member of cross functional teams.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in CSE or related engineering fields
  • Skilled in Microsoft .NET technologies
  • Experience developing browser-based applications
  • Experience with C, C#, PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS
  • Experience with source control (e.g. Perforce, Microsoft Team Foundation Server)
  • Experience in a real-time programming environment
  • Operating Systems: Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, UNIX/Linux, OpenVMS

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The position will report to the Analytics & Automation Discipline Leader. Day to day supervision will be through technical and project leaders.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Domestic + International 20%
