What You Will Be Doing: The Software Engineer II is responsible to lead analytical efforts associated with multiple projects, which are based on requirements given directly by customers or client groups. Incumbent gathers business requirements from client groups and suggests enhancements to existing systems, or proposes solutions to current client group needs. They design solutions, translate business requirements into system requirements, distribute tasks to internal and external developers, either conduct or oversee the system-level testing and documentation. Such efforts often require cross-function involvement with other IT groups and external software vendors. They are the primary contact and lead IT support resource for one or more Company application/systems. Software Engineer II will lead regular meetings to ensure effectiveness of plan, cost implications and quality of solution. The Software Engineer II's role is heavily involved in technical resource management, where they schedule resources to work on projects, assign tasks, and assess task quality. The Software Engineer II is held accountable to complete projects on time, and ensure all tasks and projects are executed to department quality standards.

Scope:
  • Organization based initiatives or projects
  • Customers can be internal and/or external based upon project
  • Will work on 3-6 mid-scale projects concurrently, assigned from department and client group senior leadership.
  • Responsible for technical project plans and system test plans
  • Responsible to assign and manage on and off-shore resources to projects
  • Multi-dimensional projects will require inclusion of other IT departments and/or software vendors
  • Expected to consistently demonstrate or surpass decision-making, problem solving, analytical, communication, and team processing skills.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines set by customers.
  • Must be knowledgeable of software language and environment.

Penske Qualifications:

Knowledge and Technical Skill Requirements:
  • Knowledgeable of computer hardware and software technologies.
  • Full understanding system development lifecycle, methodologies and standards
  • Proficient in troubleshooting skills and show the ability to apply knowledge to resolve issues quickly.
  • 5-7 years of WebMethods applications development experience.
  • Take primary ownership for several modules/applications in WebMethods environment.
  • Proficient in Oracle database PL/SQL queries/stored procedures development.
  • PL/SQL query optimization/tuning skills preferred.
  • Database trigger development, SOAP events creation by WebMethods services.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills
  • Accurately estimate large and complex projects
  • Share knowledge with teams
  • Recommend conceptual designs
  • Lead technical launch and learn sessions

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree , advanced degrees preferred
  • Green Belt, Black Belt, Lean, or PMP certification preferred
