Plan, organize, and supervise environmental programs and procedures by training, supervising and motivating the environmental services personnel to ensure all tasks are completed and schedules met.ACCOUNTABILITIES

Inspects assigned areas, observing and evaluating compliance with department and regulatory agency procedures and quality standards.

Interacts with patients, contractors, management and other members of various departments to ensure proper coordination of efforts, safety, cleanliness, and attractiveness of assigned areas.

Monitors and documents assigned staff performance to ensure associates are meeting job expectations and work is being addressed with appropriate timeliness. Conducts performance evaluations and maintains positive performance communications.

Maintains adequate staffing (within budget guidelines) to meet established workloads by preparing and revising schedules and assignments as needed. Recommend work schedules (area assignments) for all assigned areas to ensure optimal efficiency and adherence to quality standards.

Provides education and instruction for new associates. Identifies, develops and implements continuing education for all departmental staff.

Assists in the development, preparation, and monitoring of the departmental budget process, evaluates ways to improve existing schedules or methods and provides analysis of staffing requirements for additional needs and new areas.

Work closely with and motivate environmental services staff to ensure work is performed properly and personnel are following schedules (area assignments.)

Conducts training sessions with environmental services personnel regularly and as assigned by the manager.

Assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the manager. Perform administrative functions as needed and requested.

Ensures department inventory of supplies and equipment is appropriate. Assures equipment is in proper operating condition. Monitor and inspect equipment daily to ensure it is maintained in a clean condition and in good repair. Track supply inventory, report supply usage and order needed supplies.

Prepare daily inspection reports addressing activities, projects and quality management assignments.

Interview and recommend applicants for positions in the department. Counsel employees and recommend termination when necessary.

Observe cleaning and maintenance needs throughout hospital and submit written repair requests and project plans.

Develops, revises, and updates departmental policies and procedures, and prepares monthly management and statistical reports per established time schedule.

Performs all Environmental Services related tasks demonstrating service orientation to fellow employees, patients, staff and customers.

Ensures compliance with and appropriate training of infection control and hazardous materials policies and procedures.

Maintains good public relations with all patients, nursing and staff personnel. Participates in hospital activities and special events.

Ensures the staff maintains a high standard of personal appearance.

Performs others duties as directed.

Education: Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

Skills: Requires effective interpersonal skills. A demonstrated knowledge of all areas of position in order to train and direct staff. A demonstrated ability to lead personnel.

Years of Experience: Requires three (3) years of Housekeeping experience with a minimum of three (3) years progressive management experience.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree
