Sustainability Director - MAGMA

Job Description

O-I’s MAGMA team is looking for a visionary leader of Sustainability Innovation to develop and drive the “sustainability story” that team’s new technology enables. Under the direction of the MAGMA business champion, this role will define and execute on the overall sustainability strategy for the team, with a focus on four key areas: technology, environmental stewardship, strategy & business impact, and economic impact, as detailed below. This is a collaborative role with internal Company-facing and external customer-facing responsibilities. In the case of the former, this includes injecting insights into leader strategy discussions and collaborating with executive leaders on sustainability strategy implementation. The role is expect to interact closely with a number of key partners and stakeholders as identified below. The MAGMA sustainability Leader will manage a team around 3 FTE, (sustainability technology, environment or program management experts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
• MBA or Master’s in technical field preferred
• 12 - 20 years in key technology development leadership roles
• Preferably 3 – 5 years in energy reduction/recovery and/or use of alternative energy sources for manufacturing operations
• technical background in high-temperature materials processing and/or manufacturing desired
• At least 5 years of experience in sustainability strategy development, implementation and performance reporting or disclosure.
• Significant exposure to the commercial side of a manufacturing business
• Strong decision making and judgment skills
• Experience leading teams (directly or indirectly)
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to lead by influence
