Job Description:

This position is located in Columbus, Ohio but may be eligible for remote home based as long as selected candidate is within AEP's current operating territory (WV, VA, TN, AR, KY, TX, OH, IN, MI, OK, LA)

Generally leads team of cross functional professionals for a specific period to time to deliver high quality technology solutions to the business. Collaboratively create and agree upon plan to deliver a solution to the business, and then baseline the project for ongoing tracking either by scope or functionality.

Team will follow the chosen project management methodology and standard work to deliver the solution, continually keeping the project team and stakeholders informed of progress, challenges, and plans to overcome those challenges. The scope of job can range from a program, set of projects or product depending upon assignment. The resources may be managing the entire project or a specific part of the part of the project. Financial management may be of department, program, or projects and include applicable Procurement Management activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS are listed below: Under moderate direction, responsibilities include one or more of the following for small or medium sized projects/products:
  • Working within Waterfall or Agile frameworks, Product Owner will work with a variety of disciplined focused team members all working toward a common goal of delivering value with quality and scale. Responsible for collaborating with other Job Families such within Technology and across our business partners to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions that leverage AEP's technology standards, architectures and best practices. Independently performs advanced business and project analysis for the most complex and largest projects. Provides across large Programs, addressing functional and technical dependencies, constraints and consistent business rules at the Program level
  • Manage, or assist in the management of, basic to intermediate projects and assist on complex projects providing leadership, direction, coordination, and effective communication
  • Initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control, and close projects in a safe, efficient, economical, risk-balanced approach to achieve short and long range goals and to obtain maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Provide project transparency and develop relationships and effectively communicate with all stakeholders including internal customers, external customers, team members, suppliers, contractors, vendors, and industry peers, enabling them to make sound business decisions.
  • Enable and promote team level continuous improvement activities that increase quality and optimize delivery of value.
  • May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.

RequirementsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Tech Business Analyst Sr.: Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business or related field of study;
  • Or Associate's degree in computer science or related field of study with 2 years of relevant work experience;
  • Or High school diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience.

Experience:
  • In addition to any experience required above, 5 years of relevant work experience is required.

Tech Business Analyst Prin.:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business or related field of study;
  • Or Associate's degree in computer science or related field of study with 2 years of relevant work experience;
  • Or High school diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience.
Experience:
  • In addition to any experience required above, 7 years of relevant work experience is required.
Physical demand level is Sedentary

Additional Preferred Requirements:
  • Facilitate cross-functional governance to ensure all aspects of the portfolio are included in long term planning and prioritization.
  • Provide the organization with visibility into the long term roadmap for functional and technical changes to the portfolio.
  • Establishes enterprise business analyst skill set (experience in multiple business domains)
  • Utilizes significant experience planning and facilitating analysis workshops with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrates the core competencies of innovation (creative thinking, problem solving, synthesis/reorganization, collaboration, etc).
  • Formulates business strategies, operations, and opportunities to develop technology capability roadmaps that are aligned with organizational business roadmaps
  • Creates and communicates capabilities and scope plans to all levels of business technical staff.
  • Provide an expert level of process redesign and support including using tools, responding to user questions, problem diagnosis, recognition and solutions for process improvements, research, troubleshooting, tracking and resolution.
  • Research best practices to develop innovative solutions for complex process improvement Responsible for business unit relationships and overseeing, managing and leveraging the entire life cycle of information technology investments in systems for multiple departments or a small business unit - from defining and targeting the investment mix, to planning the portfolio structure and packaging, to communicating the portfolio plan and define actionable items to achieve results.
  • Guides other stakeholders to develop, prioritize, and execute the information technology and business portfolio plan.
  • 5 or more years of expertise in business process analysis, IT Project initiation work, and liaison between business unit and IT Organization
  • Previous experience on a team that is NOT single threaded
  • Experience working in complex integration projects
  • Good communication skills and experience working in Agile Team environments
