Within this role, under direct supervision of the director, the Utility Aide is responsible for performing routine cleaning duties in accordance with established practices, procedures and administrative policies. Join us and experience a culture where opportunities to advance and the support to get there go hand-in-hand.1st shift: 7:00am-3:30pm//Every other weekendCleans floors, window sills, banisters, stairways, lounges, lobby and admitting areas, locker rooms, meeting rooms, doctor's quarters, solarium, corridors and emergency room. Strips, scrubs and refinishes floors, extracts, shampoos and bonnets carpet. Performs all floor care and carpet care procedures.

Washes assigned walls, doors, ceilings, lights, windows and casings, cabinets and/or closets in patient areas and offices throughout the Medical Center.

Operates automated floor maintenance equipment, floor scrubbers, floor strippers, rotary low and high speed floor machines, vacuums and detail equipment.

Washes windows, casings and sills in patient and office areas throughout the Medical Center; moves furniture, replaces window and draw drapes and shades.

Answers calls for spills, floods, etc., receives, uses and maintains office sweeping tools, mops, wringers, soaps, cleansers, and other cleaning equipment. Pulls trash, infectious waste and needles.

Transports objects including office equipment and related furniture, patient units to and from floors, projectors, blackboards, microphones and other equipment to meeting rooms.

Cleans and washes contaminated rooms.

Follows hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

Completes annual on-going competency requirements. Attends continuing education programs and completes mandatory training in order to maintain certification/licensure, and department specific requirements.

Education:Ability to communicate effectively, follow written and/or oral instructions as demonstrated by grammar school education or the equivalent.

Certifications:None required.

Complexity of Work:Interest aptitude and ability to perform all established duties. Ability to communicate effectively, follow written and/or oral instructions as demonstrated by grammar school education or the equivalent. Willingness and ability to use courtesy in contacts with patients and their visitors. Must maintain reasonable work and/or attendance record. Must be able to work weekends.

Work Experience:Six months experience in housekeeping or floor care experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 75 pounds. Willingness and ability to move and climb ladders and/or scaffolding and to stand more than three-fourths of a shift.
