As our Value Stream Improvement Champion, you will be responsible for initiating and overseeing lean process improvement activities and changes involving mechanical, electrical, chemical, and human elements with a goal of meeting all KPIs.

You will be expected to assist the Value Stream Manager in acting as an effective catalyst and leader for significant organizational transformation initiatives, including but not limited to improving uptime, rate, and yield, and creating and executing of value stream roadmaps for improvement.

What you'll be doing
  • Utilizing technical expertise and leadership skills to identify, initiate, and implement significant process improvement activities
  • Collaborating with Value Stream Managers, Technical Resources, and Maintenance to develop value stream roadmaps for process improvement
  • Identifying and executing projects in the Value Stream including identifying improvement opportunities, understanding current projects, and forecasting and procuring resources
  • Aligning the A3/kaizen events and hoshin projects with Value Stream and plant results
  • Overseeing Kaizen events, including identifying team members, preparing agendas, conducting trainings, implementing improvements, and creating/tracking measures
  • Curating and analyzing data sets that outline systematic improvement opportunities
  • Driving proactive problem solving and root-cause elimination at plant levels
  • Employing continuous improvement tools and lean methodologies (5S, TPM, AM/PM, Value Stream Mapping, Poka-Yoke, Standard Work, and Kaizen) to identify value stream improvement opportunities

What will make you successful
  • Expertise with influential leadership, facilitation, and meeting management
  • Project management skills and the ability to leverage relationships to drive results
  • Experience with process improvement execution and facilitation
  • Proficiency with Minitab, Infinity, or similar statistical software applications
  • Ability to gather and analyze data sets from multiple sources including Data Historian, Infinity, Access, SAP, and other plant or ABP systems in order to identify opportunities and accurately assess situations

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of plant manufacturing, maintenance, or engineering experience
  • Capacity to address conflicts, resolve upset conditions, and facilitate behavioral change
  • Willingness to learn Lean methodologies and employ those skills across the plant value stream

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Six Sigma Certifications (Green Belt, Black Belt) or other Lean Certifications

About the Location (Hilliard, OH)

Our Hilliard Plant, one of twelve Armstrong plants in North America, employs 100+ people across multiple shifts who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of acoustical ceiling tile. The Hilliard plant prides itself in placing high priority on safety, quality and exceeding customer expectations.
