This position will work in conjunction with other financial and non-financial department heads to create, document, direct, and review critical financial policy. Role Summary:The VP Accounting has responsibility for planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions, including preparation of the internal and external consolidated financial reporting. The VP Accounting is also the key liaison with functional department heads to ensure adequate internal control processes around financial functions are in place and functioning properly. This position is also responsible for coordinating with external auditors and other external agencies. The individual will create accounting strategies that maximize profits while ensuring accurate, error free and compliant financial reporting.

What You'll Do:
  • Overseeing all accounting operational functions
  • Reporting internal and external financial results on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Ensuring external reporting is compliant with GAAP and SEC Industry-specific requirements
  • Ensuring general ledger activity complies with GAAP and best practices. Establishing and documenting company positions on technical accounting issues; coordinating with external advisors as required
  • Coordinating external /SEC reporting with Finance and Legal teams
  • Analyzing and observing financial controls to ensure they working as planned. Establishing/enhancing controls where necessary, ensuring processes are optimized
  • Responsible for external audit prep and oversight
  • Developing and implementing a tax strategy for the company; including the periodic review of external advisors and return preparation services, offering recommendations for improvement or changes as needed
  • Supporting M&A activities as necessary
  • Hiring, leading and developing skilled accounting staff

What Experience You'll Have:
  • 10+ yrs experience in role either managing SEC reporting or public accounting serving SEC clients
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with either Master’s Degree in Accounting or MBA
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Experience writing technical accounting memos and financial statement disclosures
  • Experience managing financial audits and similar projects with outside business partners
  • Experience translating complex accounting positions to non-financial executives and investors
  • Experience with SOX compliance
  • Experience coordinating tax specialists in building/implementing tax strategies
