SUPERINTENDENT manages assigned heavy civil (STREET AND ROAD) construction projects in a safe and efficient manner and according to federal and state heavy highway regulations. Superintendent supervises crew and subcontractors and is responsible for projects from project planning through project completion.
Independently manage projects in Concrete, Asphalt, Earthwork and/or Underground Utilities/Stormwater/Sanitary Sewer
Supervise and lead crew
Operate and lead the crew with a 'safety first' mindset at all times
MANAGE AND LEAD PROJECT ACTIVITIES:
Ability to independently manage a small - large project
Read, understand and follow blueprints, schematics, building plans and instructions
Use independent judgement to identify and execute best quality and most efficient building methods to meet plan specifications, budget and contract timeline
Project scheduling and critical path - Create and meet or beat 3-week lookahead production schedules, based on entire project schedule, to include labor, equipment, materials, tools, current project status, etc.
Understand, forecast per phase, plan, and meet or beat project budget
Understand manhours, cost coding system & calculating quantities and maximize profit and production accordingly
Understand profitable use of time (being busy vs making money) and prioritize project activities accordingly
Submit daily equipment requests to Construction Manager based on upcoming project needs
Identify and execute best practices for technique, use of materials, equipment, tools, and supplies
Perform stringent quality control management
Operate a company vehicle safely on a daily basis
Create and maintain production records by making accurate and daily project entries in HeavyJob, i.e. Crew timekeeping, cost coding, calculated quantities, and detailed daily project reporting with corresponding photos for payroll, progressive billings and project progression oversight by senior management
Effectively lead subcontractors, i.e. schedule, oversee, scrutinize work
Identify and report issues that could affect the project plan and devise solutions to resolve
Be present and involved in all inspections, effectively communicate with Inspectors
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
10 years of STREET AND ROAD construction preferred
Software: Proficiency in HeavyJob and iPad, a plus
Bilingual, a plus
Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screens
Must have valid Driver’s License and be driver insurable / clean MVR
Physical requirements typical of heavy civil construction industry
Must demonstrate excellent attendance
