GDH Consulting has partnered with an enterprise organization looking for a Direct Hire Network Engineer. As a Network Engineer, you will: design, plan, and assist in network and security system implementations. Plan, schedule, and perform complex maintenance tasks on all network, firewall, and voice systems for an enterprise network environment. Act as an escalation point for troubleshooting of network, network security, and voice components. Manage and drive efforts for network and voice problem resolution. Build and maintain monitoring of network conditions including performance, compliance, and availability.

Major functions for this position:

o Participate in development, testing, and implementation of network systems, network security systems, and related appliances.

o Review existing network designs, evolving business needs, and recommend necessary design changes to maintain business value.

o Review designs for new hardware and software systems and provide operational feedback with a focus on minimizing necessary maintenance, maximizing system lifecycles, and aligning with business need.

o Act as product owner for at least 3 network operations owned products, including managing new feature reviews, lifecycle recommendations, and administration documentation.

o Act as a representative and technical owner of a network and voice implementations with internal and external IT peers.

o Troubleshoot and resolve network performance problems.

o Provide daily support for WAN, LAN and wireless networks including all hardware/software network and network security components.

o Support Unified Communications infrastructure including legacy voice systems.

o Fulfill network security related request including firewall rule-set changes.

o Troubleshoot firewall related technical problems.

o Support and configure DNS, DHCP, and IPAM services.

o Work directly with external vendors, carriers, and other IT operations personnel as needed to resolve support issues.

o Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual network routine maintenance.

o Maintain all standards on network and network security devices including device configuration and software versioning.

o Work as a team member with other technical staff to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems.

o Utilize network management tools to maintain and update network configurations to meet industry best practices and standards.

o Conduct technical research and analysis on network upgrades to determine compatibility with current systems.

o Analyze and trend data from routine tasks performed by NOC.

o Use network management tools to pro-actively monitor all network components.

o Ensure all monitoring systems are updated and configured to correctly monitor all aspect of the network.

o Use network management tools to provide monthly network performance reporting and trending.

o Use network management tools to establish baselines to be used for capacity planning.

o Create alerts when thresholds have been met and make suggestions for upgrade.

o Facilitate circuit orders for new stores and relocations.

o Provide move, add, and change support for systems and users.

o Conduct technical research on network hardware/software and network monitoring upgrades to determine feasibility and compatibility.

o Update reference diagrams and documentation to reflect changes.

o Document network problems and resolutions for future reference.

o Provide troubleshooting and process documentation for ongoing network support.

o Prepare and maintain automation used to assist with installs and routine tasks.

o Provide procedural documentation for non-network personnel as needed.

o Provide on-the-job training to other analyst and department staff members as appropriate.
