The Material Handler – Shipping Lead is responsible for the handling of tile and tile related products in a variety of applications to distribute quality products to The Tile Shop stores and their customers as well as assisting the Shipping Supervisor in daily operations as needed under their direction.  Material handlers must maintain a clean, neat, safe, and organized work area while having the ability to manually move and lift 50 lbs. regularly and frequently move and lift up to or over 100 lbs.  Material handlers must have the ability to work a scheduled shift and follow direction.Shift Time: Monday - Friday 9:00am -5:30pmRESPONSIBILITIES:Able to competently perform all start of shift responsibilities such as printing pick tickets, correcting order allocation issues, print necessary pallet tags and box stickers.Assign tasks and job duties at the beginning of the shift and throughout the day as needed.Communicate effectively with members of the department and those in other departments.Able to conduct start of shift meetings in a professional manner.Teach, coach, and train all members of the team.Take appropriate corrective action when established procedures are not being followed.Participate in disciplinary actions as needed.Assists stores with product inquiries, customer service issues and add on requests in a timely fashion.Use wireless RF device or desktop computer to perform all Bar Code functions, which include but are not limited to pull, put away, ship confirm, and inventory lookup.Select pick ticket to determine items to be picked, packed, palletized, or shipped.Convey pallets, boxes, and items from bin locations to staging areas, build areas, pallets, or crates.Manually lift, move, sort, carry or place boxes and items onto / off pallets and into / out of crates.Ensures inventory accuracy for item or location being picked, packed, palletized, shipped, or put away to or from the bin location.Participates in cycle counting program as needed.Use computer systems and programs to print documents and labels and perform inventory transactions.Correctly use a variety of equipment including but not limited to sit-down forklift, automatic wrapping machine, 2-wheeled cart, and pallet jack.Inspect, use, and maintain equipment in good working order.Ensure that all pallets and items are clearly and accurately labeled, whether outbound to customer or returning to bin location.Completes all paperwork pertaining to inventory such as breakage/damage list.Securely build and wrap pallets and crates in a timely fashion.Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized working environment.Safely and properly load and unload trucks using sit down forklift, pallet jack and manually.Work in other departments as needed.Meet scheduled attendance requirements; may work long hours of work when necessary to reach goals.Other duties as assigned.
