With our historic growth, it is an exciting time to join our team of employee-owners.As a Transportation Planner – Airports, you will collaborate with Engineers, Planners, and Technicians and develop and aviation planning group within Olsson. You will be responsible for assessing, analyzing, disclosing and documenting impacts on municipal and regional airport projects. This role will include Airport Master plans and Airport Layout plans, as well as the associated environmental planning and natural resource management strategies, relevant to aviation projects.Responsibilities will include:

Lead, support and manage aviation planning projects for clients.

Writes and/or reviews major sections of and leads production of master plans and ALPs.

Leads, prepares, and reviews graphics, technical reports, work plans, scopes of work, fee proposals, and responses to Request for Proposals for projects. Prepares and reviews budgets, invoicing, and billing.

Engaging in business development efforts to secure aviation planning work and build client relationships.

Preparing and managing preparation of high-quality project deliverables, including documentations and presentations.

Preparing and delivering effective public presentations and representing Olsson to clients and stakeholders.

Establishing and maintaining connections with professional colleagues, identifying and developing marketing leads, preparing marketing proposals and materials, and representing Olsson at interviews

Delivering high-quality products, undertaking financial management of projects and being responsible for client relationships, and management of staff and subcontractors

Directs and oversees technical work for a wide variety of airport planning and preliminary design projects.

Prepare technical reports for airport planning studies.

Helping to manage and mentor staff.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Limited travel will be required.

Olsson currently has an opportunity for an Aviation Planner for our Airports team. We will consider candidates interested in being located near any office within the Olsson footprint. Candidates can live anywhere in the United States and work remotely.QualificationsYou are passionate about:

Strong communication skills

Ability to contribute and work well on a team

Bachelor's degree in aviation management, aeronautical science, planning, engineering, or a related field.

5 plus years of related experience in aviation planning

Technical expertise in standard airport planning procedures and approaches.

Knowledge of FARs, FAA Advisory Circulars, and FAA orders that apply to airport planning.

Prior experience working with FAA ADIP

Strong verbal, writing (including technical writing), and presentation communication skills needed. Ability to interact with employees, other consultants, clients and others with respect and professionalism.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Products Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook as well as tabulation, data management, software, and publication programs used for airport planning.

Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment responsive to deadlines.

Demonstrated understanding of airport planning issues/solutions and ability to undertake technical assignments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Prior experience in a consulting firm environment

Strong quality assurance and commitment to tasks

Strong understanding of an airport/airfield environment

Strong experience in Master Plan and ALP updates

Proven knowledge and application of aviation skills including understanding of FAA guidelines and requirements for airport planning and geometry.
