Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Behavior Specialist for our residential adult group homes and supported living programs in the Portland metro area. You will be part of our diverse workforce providing training and support to our team of direct support staff and program directors. The position is 20-40 hours per week during normal business hours.

The behavior specialist will:

  • Complete functional assessments
  • Develop positive behavior support plans
  • Train staff on supports as outlined in the behavior support plan
  • Train OIS (Oregon Intervention System)
  • Monitor behavior data
  • Monitor agency compliance as outlined in the Oregon administrative rules
  • Provide ongoing support to individuals, program directors and staff as needed

Qualifications

  • This position requires excellent decision-making, time management and organizational skills, and professional-level verbal and written communication skills.

The state of Oregon requires one of the following criteria are met:

  • Possess a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst® (BCBA®) graduatelevel certification in behavior analysis and one year of experience using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities. OR
  • Possess a Master of Arts or Master of Science in psychology, sociology, human services, education, social work, or the equivalent as evidenced by providing transcripts indicating applicable coursework, and one year of experience using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities OR
  • Possess a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in psychology, sociology, human services, education, social work, or the equivalent as evidenced by providing transcripts indicating applicable coursework, and three years of experience using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities OR
  • A minimum of six years of experience performing professional behavior services using positive behavior support services prior to January 1, 2021.

The successful candidate will also:

  • Possess the knowledge of the philosophy, services and techniques required to provide effective program support for people with developmental disabilities who are engaging in challenging behaviors
  • Have the ability to form positive relationships and work collaboratively with management staff, families and community partners is essential
  • Be a certified trainer in the Oregon Intervention System or have the ability to become certified.This isultimately required in this position
  • Have a Bachelors degree in Psychology or related field
  • Be experienced in functional assessment and writing behavior support plans
  • Have knowledge of Oregon Administrative Rules for 24 hour residential group home supports.

Successful candidates will be required to meet all Oregon State Department of Human Services requirements.
