As the Data Governance Program Manager you will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices, both at the department and Business areas, to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall organizational needs. This client encompasses a wide variety of services and data across its business units, so the program must be flexible enough to work well across a range of departmental service models.Data Governance Program and Strategy:

  • Implement an enterprise wide data governance framework, with a focus on equity, racial justice, data sharing, improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data.
  • Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company’s principal information assets.
  • Partner with the Office of Diversity and Equity, Privacy Office and IT Security to ensure alignment with the Data Governance Program.
  • Influence departmental senior management to initiate and maintain data governance processes where possible.
  • Coordinate and influence senior leadership to communicate policies down to their management groups.
Data Governance Operations:
  • Educate and train Data Stewards so they are able to fulfill the role within their organization
  • Ensure equity, inclusion and racial justice are embedded within all aspects of Data Governance Operations
  • Remove operational roadblocks as possible to enable data governance processes within each department.
  • Serve as a liaison between Business areas and technology to ensure that data-related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are in place and that appropriate data sharing processes are implemented.
  • Partner with IT Enterprise Data teams and the Enterprise Architecture Program to align the Data Governance Program with Data Architecture, Data Structure, and Data Dictionaries.
  • Utilize the Collibra Data Governance platform as the gold source for business vocabularies, data dictionaries and internal data sharing agreements. Train stewards in its use and continue to develop functionality.
  • Define indicators of performance and quality metrics to ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements.
  • Track progress in alignment with the DG Maturity Model and report to senior management periodically.
Apply Data Governance to Projects:
  • Provide critical projects the tools, process and education necessary to achieve business benefits from applying Data Governance.
  • Lead Data Governance work streams in projects to achieve desired results.
  • Own multiple simultaneous complex deliverables across the enterprise with Data Governance or Data Architecture needs
  • Document, communicate and track issues and risks and appropriate strategies for mitigation. Communication, Education and Training:
  • Ensure all stakeholders involved in data understand data governance at the level necessary for the success of the program and the relationship between Data Governance and data equity.
  • Maintain the Data Governance web site on the company’s intranet
  • Develop and present training on data governance concepts, policies and principles to groups at all levels across the enterprise.
  • Create training sets for data stewards and other employees published on the Collibra DG portal.

  • Equivalency of 7-10 years of qualifying training and/or experience:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience.
    • Three (3) to six (6) years professional experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
    • One (1) to three (3) years of experience leading or managing Data Governance activities.
  • The person in this position must pass a criminal records check to obtain Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) clearance and will be fingerprinted upon acceptance of an offer.

  • Strong track record for implementing and managing data governance
  • Must understand multi-domain, multi-platform landscape and the importance of data governance across them
  • Able to work with business and domain owners to drive adoption, negotiate roadmaps and adhere to a design led approach to unify data collection, sharing, and use.
  • Strong track record of creation and maintenance of data policies and alignment with business data processes
  • Experience implementing a data catalog and/or data lineage
  • Experience applying Data Governance Frameworks and Enterprise Data Architecture
  • Excellent problem-solving skills involving complex and ambiguous issues
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and self-disciplined individual capable of executing on multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment working with cross functional teams
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, communication and influencing skills
