Job Details

We currently seek an experienced Mechanical Engineer (P.E.) with broad experience in product design, equipment design, or other mechanical systems to support operations in our Kansas City or Portland, Oregon district offices. Experience in the automotive or commercial vehicle industries is a plus. In this position, you will apply your technical knowledge to help assess and determine the origin and cause of complex and unique problems for our clients. As you draw upon your mechanical design experience and reasoning skills to form opinions and conclusions, you'll be supported by a team of top-notch professionals prepared to assist you every step of the way. ResponsibilitiesDuties include conducting field investigations and performing mechanical failure/accident analysis involving various types of vehicles and mechanical equipment involved in industrial, construction, or traffic-related incidents. You will work as part of a team, with other engineering specialties, to determine the root cause of an incident. You will perform timely accurate analysis, prepare reports, and present your findings to the client and other interested parties. You must be able to manage several projects simultaneously and be detail orientated. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential. Report writing skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, are also essential.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License is required
  • NCEES Record Preferred. You must be able to gain P.E. reciprocity in additional states as needed.
  • Valid Driver's License is a must.
  • 5+ years of experience, with engineering consulting experience a plus.
  • Must have strong technical writing skills.
  • Must have strong computer software skills.
  • Analytical skills and ability to resolve complex problems.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, standards, and other technical references.
  • The ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing to clients and other involved parties details of the projects engineering/architectural issues.
  • Must be hands-on in conducting field investigations.
  • Requires prompt responsiveness to peers and clients.
  • Rare, but occasionally work will require unusual hours.
  • We are looking for an outgoing individual that will interact well with staff, clients and homeowners well.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and physically able to climb ladders, walk on uneven and unleveled surfaces, enter and work in tight spaces, and crawl around equipment and various types of vehicles during inspections.
  • Must be willing to travel.
