- Design and deploy new applications, systems and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems.
- Optimize and troubleshoot existing systems, applications, networking, storage and other enterprise datacenter infrastructure.
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability and redundancy.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Evaluate infrastructure solutions and make appropriate recommendations based on organizational goals.
- Develop technical standards for enterprise infrastructure.
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting and complex problem resolution on escalated issues while monitoring and maintaining environment stability.
- Conduct research to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
- PhD in relevant field AND 3 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in relevant field AND 5 years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor's degree with major courses in field of research plus 7 years related experience OR equivalent experience/certifications.
- Prior Windows system administration experience.
- Emphasis on automation (PowerShell).
- System administration skills with one or more of the following: Windows, LINUX, Macintosh, Solaris, VMware; DNS, DHCP, LDAP, NFS, TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP, SAN / Fiber Channel technology, Infiniband, ipfilter/iptables, High Availability / Cluster technology, Oracle, MySQL, Postgresql, unixODBC, XML, Apache, Nagios, Ganglia, ElasticSearch/Kibana, proxy and portal products.
- Need someone with strong problem-solving skills | an engineer mindset
- Broad understanding of multi-platform hardware, operating systems, applications, networks and programming. Data Center support.
- Experience in computer system architecture, design and support.
- Experience working in a large, complex environment with multiple platforms and protocols.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, OpenStack, or Azure a plus
