POSITION SUMMARY

AED SERVICE AMERICA is seeking a highly organized, tech-confident, field-ready professional to serve as our Field Service Technician (FST) for the Newark/Philadelphia corridor. This role is responsible for managing and maintaining client AEDs from New York City to Washington DC, ensuring operational readiness, safety compliance, and outstanding customer service. This position will be our first full-time W2 employee as a technician so it’s important that we select the right candidate. We are not looking for someone that is looking for just another job. Additionally, this technician will recruit, hire, train, and coordinate 1099 Response Ready Technicians along the entire Eastern Seaboard, helping scale our national service operations.

This is a hybrid field/management role ideal for a self-starter who thrives on autonomy, responsibility, and mission-critical work. Must reside in Philadelphia/Newark area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

FIELD SERVICE & CLIENT MANAGEMENT

Perform onsite AED inspections, testing, and annual certification across the NY–Philly–DC region.

Ensure every AED under management meets manufacturer, state, federal, and AED SERVICE AMERICA compliance standards.

Respond to out-of-service or deployed AEDs within 48 hours, with a company goal of 4-hour onsite response 100% of the time.

Coordinate service scheduling directly with client points of contact; maintain professional, clear communication always.

Create and update client spreadsheets, service logs, inspection portals, AED registries, and maintenance dashboards.

RECRUITING & TEAM DEVELOPMENT

Identify, recruit, interview, train, and mentor 1099 field technicians throughout the Eastern U.S. in areas that are identified as gaps in coverage.

Provide ongoing procedural guidance and ensure technicians follow all Response Ready protocols.

Support onboarding of new technicians, including GO-BAG preparation, field checklists, and compliance standards as well as Zoom training.

Additional responsibilities will be added, deleted or modified to meet the growth of the company.

TECHNOLOGY, REPORTING & ADMINISTRATION

You must be confident using Zoom, Excel, Word, cloud systems, and mobile inspection tools.

Submit daily/weekly activity reports, field summaries, documentation, and expense reports.

Maintain accurate inspection histories and verify all AED statuses regularly.

Register client AEDs with local/state EMS agencies and ensure documentation is updated.

PARTS MANAGEMENT & LOGISTICS

Manage regional inventory of pads, batteries, loaner AEDs, and replacement parts.

Forecast needs 90 days in advance and ensures parts are shipped to yourself or 1099 technicians assigned on time.

Maintain accurate stock levels in alignment with AED SERVICE AMERICA inventory protocols.

Oversee shipping, returns, and proper storage of AED components.

TRAVEL & COMPANY VEHICLE

Maintain a clean driving record and follow all vehicle care requirements (scheduled maintenance, oil changes, inspections).

Travel weekly as needed throughout NY, NJ, PA, DE, MD, DC; occasional travel to Virginia or Northeast sites as needed.

Visit Connecticut headquarters every other month for team meetings, training, and operational alignment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Proven field service experience (medical device, electrical/mechanical, EMS, safety, or compliance preferred).

Strong organizational logistic skills with high attention to detail.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Tech-savvy; must be comfortable with Zoom, spreadsheets, cloud portals, and mobile inspection software.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Ability to lift 40 lbs. and perform moderate physical activity when servicing AED cabinets/equipment.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred

Prior EMS, Fire, military, or safety-industry experience.

Experience managing 1099 contractors or field teams.

Comfort speaking with clients, conducting presentations, and representing the company professionally.

Familiarity with AED types, brands, and maintenance cycles (training will be provided).

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base Salary: $65,000

Commission: Paid on revenue generated within assigned territory (AED sales, service plans, accessories)

Health Insurance Contribution: Up to $2,500

Retirement: Up to $2,500 annual match

Equity: 1/4 share in AED SERVICE AMERICA after one year

Paid Time Off: 2 weeks’ vacation, 10 paid holidays

Vehicle: Company service vehicle + fuel/credit card
