Milton Hershey School (MHS) is a world-renowned pre-K through 12th grade private school that provides a home and cost-free education to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Founded in 1909 by Milton and Catherine Hershey, MHS is fully endowed and currently serves approximately 2,200 students, with over 12,000 graduates empowered to lead successful lives.MHS is hiring an Animal Center Assistant to support its Agricultural and Environmental Education (AEE) program. This role blends hands-on animal care with educational programming, helping students engage with agriculture through classroom instruction, extracurriculars, and work experiences.‍ Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with staff to design and deliver animal science and agricultural lessonsSupport instruction for students from Pre-K to 12th gradeCare for animals including sheep, goats, cattle, horses, rabbits, and small animalsOperate and maintain farm equipment (tractors, skid loaders, mowers, etc.)Maintain barns, fields, gardens, and other facilitiesAssist with crop-related tasks and seasonal plantingBuild relationships with veterinarians, colleges, and agricultural organizationsLead student clubs and supervise internships (e.g., 4-H, summer programs) QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s in agriculture or animal science preferredExperience working with children and youth in educational settingsPassion for agriculture and environmental educationSkilled in animal husbandry, feeding, and administering medicationsFamiliarity with agricultural equipment and facility maintenanceAbility to collaborate with veterinarians and ensure animal welfarePesticide license is a plusValid driver’s license with a clean recordStrong communication and multitasking skillsProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditionsHigh integrity and commitment to being a positive role modelEager to actively engage with students
