What You Will Be Doing As an Associate Data Platform Engineer III, you will participate in all aspects of guiding and supporting development teams implement and deploy their applications on cloud or on-premise platforms. You will work with the software development teams to troubleshoot issues as they occur while also building, scaling and maturing the underlying platform. You will have an opportunity to lead the design of certain platform components and suggest new technology/tools based on industry and technological trends and advances. You will also consult with product owners and senior members of the staff to understand the business and application requirements and provide suggestions based on platform best practices. You will collaborate with Architects and Engineers to help build and maintain a robust environment for application development, deployment, hosting, data storage and ingestion.

Responsibilities
  • Be the primary contact and lead support associate for multiple critical components of the platform and help resolve customer issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with platform product owners and play a critical role in end-to-end Operations Management of Application/Data Platform as a Service.
  • Collaborate with technical/business leaders and platform product owners to acquire and understand requirements / acceptance criteria and provide platform stability.
  • Drive automation of application deployment and manage platform instances, security, backup and recovery procedures.
  • Participate in capacity planning, disaster recovery and high availability planning.
  • Recommend Observability standards and enable platform observability through logging and monitoring and take proactive measures to maintain the hygiene of the environment.
  • Triage production issues and work with multiple teams to perform problem analysis
  • Play a critical role in automating complete infrastructure provisioning, installation, upgrade and scaling using Terraform, Linux Shell and Cloud formation scripts
  • Build and support the relevant components of the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Perform on-going research to explore new features, versions, and related technologies, and provide recommendations to enhance our offerings.
  • Document standard run books and operating procedures and assign/review tasks from junior and offshore associate engineers.
  • Participate in conducting new hire interviews.
  • Work closely with the project team and report clearly and accurately to management.
  • Build and maintain stable working relationships internally.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent years of software development/system administration experience required
  • 5-7 years of industry experience with knowledge of platform administration and programming languages required
  • 3 years of relevant hands-on experience managing Linux/Unix/Data platforms including application/database server administration.
  • Experience with configuration, change management and monitoring.
  • Understanding of clustering, load balancing and firewalls.
  • Understanding of automation practices throughout the development, build and deployment phases of the application lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and administer high volume and high velocity application/data environments.
  • Experience with relational database administration (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud/on-premise based PaaS such as Cloud Foundry.
  • Experience with public cloud such as AWS and cloud services such as EC2/S3.
  • Experience with in-memory databases such as Gemfire.
  • Experience with build management and continuous integration tools preferred.
  • Understanding of DevOps concepts.
  • Professional demeanor works effectively in a team setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of the Agile software development methodology
  • Aptitude and desire for learning new technologies and concepts
  • Ability to estimate medium to large-sized platform activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
